Welcome to the Final Starting Flight of the MSPT Venetian $1,600 Main Event

At 11:10 a.m. local time, cards will be in the air for the final starting flight of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Venetian $1,600 Main Event.

The third starting flight presents the next opportunity for players to earn their seats for a Day 2 birth.

Monday’s first starting flight saw 275 entries take to the felt while yesterday's Day 1b saw another 435 added to the tally, bringing the two-day total up to 710.

Just like the previous starting flights, players will receive a starting stack of 30,000 and levels will be of 40 minutes in length with a 15-minute break after every three levels. Late registration/re-entries will remain available until the start of Level 10 and players are allowed unlimited re-entries until that point.

As for the happenings on the first two days, Day 1b chip leader Kyrylo Kobzyev (834,000) leads the way with Day 1a chip leader Josh Bobrosky (675,000) currently second in chips. So far, there're 37 players who bagged north of the 256,627 chip average with 83 players currently on the Day 2 roster.

Pineda Sets Up Shulman for Double

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

Julian Pineda raised to 500 from early position only to have two-time WSOP bracelet winner Barry Shulman three-bet to 1,700 from the cutoff.

Action folded back around to Pineda who called and the dealer dropped a flop. Pineda check-jammed for 19,400 after Shulman continued for 5,000 and Shulman called.

Shulman flopped top pair but was way behind Pineda's set of fours and the turn left him drawing dead.

The dealer dropped the meaningless on the river and Pineda collected his double-up.

Suriano Drops Two With the Nuts

Andrews Doubles Through Boivin

There was heads-up action between Cherish Andrews from middle position and Thomas Boivin from the small blind with a completed board showing.

With roughly 30,000 already in the middle, Boivin led out with an all in bet and Andrews snapped-off her 23,600 stack.

Boivin rolled over for trip eights but they were no good as Andrews rivered a full house holding to win the pot.

Apter Doubles With Big Slick

A series of preflop raises saw WSOP bracelet winner Brett Apter get his 28,700 stack in the middle from the small blind and he was called by the button player.

Apter had his opponent dominated until the flop hit the felt pairing their queen.

Luckily for Apter, the fell on the turn putting Apter back out in front and the river secured his double-up.

Donnie Phan Sets Up a Double

Donnie Phan open-jammed for his last 5,700 from late position and was called by the button player.

Phan was in rough shape until the flop fell giving him a set of fours.

The turn brought possible chop outs if a six were to fall on the river but luckily for Phan, the completed the board and secured his double-up.

Skhulukhiia Handed a Cooler by Moret-Rojas

Rodney Moret-Rojas raised from middle position and then called Giorgii Skhulukhiia's three-bet jam from the big blind.

Skhulukhiia was racing for his tournament and took the lead after the flop gave him trip aces.

The turn didn't change a thing and just as Skhulukhiia thought he'd be collecting a double-up, the dealer dropped the on the river ending his tournament.
