Pence Doubles Through Thomas

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Caleb Pence
Caleb Pence

Clay Wilson opened to 8,000 on the button and received calls from both Aaron Thomas in the small blind and Caleb Pence, defending his big blind.

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Spades} and Thomas checked. Pence shoved all in for 23,000 and Wilson folded, prompting Thomas to announce that he was calling.

Caleb Pence: {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Aaron Thomas: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}

Pence had an apparent 12 outs in the deck to fade and did so with ease as the turn {j-Hearts} and river {q-Clubs} came to complete the runout. He let out a fist pump upon seeing the river and then collected the pot that was shipped his way.

Thomas Over a Quarter Milly

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Aaron Thomas
Aaron Thomas

Aaron Thomas has just been spotted with a stack significantly larger than he had in front of him a level ago. He was kind enough to fill in the details on a recent double, saying he defended his big blind versus an open from Allan Sease in the hijack and that action checked through a {7-}{6-}{3-} flop with two hearts. Thomas then fired 16,000 forward on the {2-} turn before jamming the river {j-Diamonds} and receiving a call.

Aaron Thomas: {2-}{2-}
Allan Sease: {k-}{k-}

Thomas' set of deuces was good to earn him the double and he now finds himself as one of the largest stacks in the room with less than 45 minutes of play remaining in the evening.

Phil Bujorian
Phil Bujorian

Phil Bujorian open-jammed for his last 19,000 under the gun and action folded around to the big blind, where Justin Shaw took over half a minute to consider his decision before finding a call.

Phil Bujorian: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}
Justin Shaw: {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}

The runout {5-Spades}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{j-Spades} left Bujorian's hand on top and he scored the much-needed double to stay alive.

Kotliarsky Check-Raises the River

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Alex Kotliarsky
Alex Kotliarsky

Justin Shaw opened in middle position and saw Alex Kotliarsky defend his big blind before check-calling Shaw's continuation-bet on a flop of {5-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

The turn came {3-Diamonds} and Kotliarsky check-called another 12,000 from Shaw to bring the river {k-Hearts} on board. Kotliarsky checked again and Shaw fired a third time for 15,000, prompting Kotliarsky to check-raise to 35,000. Shaw thought for about 20 seconds and then called.

Kotliarsky showed {k-Spades}{3-Hearts} for a backdoor full house, earning him the pot as Shaw flashed {a-Diamonds} en route to his cards going to the muck.

Hopp Skipped Out of the Tournament

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Toby Gebauer
Toby Gebauer

A short-stacked Ryan Hopp got the last of his chips into the middle in the big blind, receiving action from Toby Gebauer in middle position.

Ryan Hopp: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Toby Gebauer: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

"I love poker!" exclaimed Hopp sarcastically. "I even got jacks in the big blind!"

The runout {3-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} brought the possibility of a gutshot straight draw completing on the river to bring a chop, but ultimately left Hopp's jacks second best to the aces of Gebauer, who took down the pot and sent Hopp to the rail shortly after returning from dinner.
