Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

MSPT Poker Bowl V at Venetian

Trung Le opened in the cutoff and called the shove of Lorell Pascual in the small blind, who had about 110,000. Neither seemed excited to turn over his hand.

"I smell an ace-jack," someone said.

Sure enough, Pascuall showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. He was racing against {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}. The race was very short as the flop came {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, leaving Le's fours stone dead.

Ralph Massey on Fumes

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Aaron Raap was all in from middle position for 82,000 and at risk against Ralph Massey, who showed {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} a couple of seats over. It was a flip with Raap holding {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} and he ran out clean as it came {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}.

Payne Breaks Bubble

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

It took a nasty cooler but the bubble broke on the first hand dealt.

At Table 19, two players were all in on a board of {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{a-Spades}. One showed down {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} but was behind the {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} of Korey Payne. The {3-Diamonds} river kept the set best and Payne collected his opponent's remaining 120,000 or so, along with the 60,000 that was already in the middle.

Cristos Clocked Twice

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Jordan Cristos
Jordan Cristos

Jordan Cristos bet 13,500 from early position on a {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop and Steve Wilkie called from the hijack. On the {q-Clubs} turn, Cristos tanked until Wilkie called a clock. Cristos then checked. Wilkie grabbed some chips but checked back. On the {9-Clubs} river, Wilkie called the clock more quickly and Cristos slid in 100,000 or so. Wilkie snap-folded.

Tournament staff is now coloring up T500 chips with 104 players remaining.

Yu Three-Bet Ships

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

The early hit Sean Yu absorbed running jacks into aces hasn't seemed to slow him down. In fact, it was just the opposite as he had tripled his stack by the time we next noted him in a hand.

This time, Yu looked to have played a single-raised pot from the button and continued for 17,000 against the big blind on {5-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. That player raised to 44,000 and Yu instantly jammed for about 250,000. That induced a fold from his opponent and Yu showed {5-Spades} as he mucked.
