Hammers Drills King on the River to Avoid Suckout

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Sherry Hammers found herself all in and at risk preflop against one opponent.

Sherry Hammers: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-}{7-}

Hammers was ahead with her kicker but the {7-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} flop was an unlucky one.

The turn {2-Hearts} was a blank, but the {k-Spades} fell on the river to give her the better two pair. The table gave a big reaction to that river as Hammers is now sitting on about 100,000.

Smith Downs Alsup with Sixes

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Chris Smith
Chris Smith

MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup shoved for 17,500 from the cutoff and Chris Smith called from the big blind to put him at risk.

Rich Alsup: {8-}{7-}
Chris Smith: {6-}{6-}

The {6-}{3-}{2-} flop gave Smith top set, but the {5-} turn brought Alsup an open-ended straight draw. A {j-} peeled off on the river and Smith scored the knockout.

Kopp Finds a Set to Chip Up

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Katie Kopp bet 4,000 on a {k-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop and she found one caller in the small blind to see the {6-Diamonds} turn.

Both players checked through to the {5-Diamonds} river and the small blind led for 9,000. Kopp quickly called.

The small blind turned over {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} a pair of kings, but Kopp showed {5-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a set of fives to take the pot.

Graff Finds Flush to Survive

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Just before the break, a cheer could be heard from across the room and it was coming from Duane Graff.

Graff had found himself all in and at risk preflop against Brad Sailor and one other opponent.

Duane Graff: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Brad Sailor: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Opponent: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Graff was in rough shape against pocket queens and ace-king, that is until the {2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop gave him a flush draw.

The turn brought the {4-Spades}, which was no help, but the {a-Diamonds} river sure was as he made the diamond flush to triple.

Wakita Cracks the Aces of Alsup

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Shun Wakita
Shun Wakita

Shun Wakita raised from the cutoff and Rich Alsup three-bet from the small blind.

Wakita took his time before moving all in for about his last 20,000 and Alsup snapped him off.

Shun Wakita: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Rich Alsup: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

Alsup had the goods with pocket aces but the {10-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds} runout was a disaster for him as Wakita made tens full to take the pot.
