Day 1b of the MSPT Venetian $1,100 Main Event Kicks Off Soon

Welcome to Day 1b of the MSPT Venetian $1,100 Main Event at the Venetian Poker Room in Las Vegas. Day 1a saw 238 entrants show up to play for the $500,000 prize pool and 27 surviving players will meet the remaining field from Day 1b on Monday September 6 to play for the title.

David Ouellette is the chip leader in a Day 1a field that includes WSOP gold bracelet winner Kathy Liebert. Previously at the MSPT in Las Vegas, Harlen Miller of Bismarck, North Dakota beat a field of 2,790 entries to win the MSPT Venetian $1,100 Main Event in early June and later that month Chance Kornuth outlasted 2,011 entries to take down the MSPT Venetian $1,600 Main Event. Many more MSPT regulars are expected throughout in the field throughout today.

Day 1b begins at 11:10 a.m. local time and it is the last of two starting days. The final day of the tournament will take place on Monday September 5 at 11:00 a.m. Players will start with 25,000 in chips and blinds open at 100/100 with a 100 big blind ante. There will be a 15-minute break every three levels and a 60-minute break at the end of level nine. Levels will be 40 minutes long.

Play will continue on Day 1b until 11% of the field remain, or until 15 levels have been played. Registration will be open until around 6:40 p.m., when the late registration period ends at the conclusion of the dinner break that follows Level Nine. Player’s can re-enter as many times as they wish until late registration closes.

Winners from August’s DeepStack Showdown Tournament Series

In August, Venetian hosted the DeepStack Showdown Tournament Series, which was comprised of 28 tournaments that catered to a combined 5,450 entrants and awarded more than $3.5 million in prize money. Among those to capture titles during the series were Adam Demersseman, Lisa Pickell, Michael Azzaro, and Veerab Zakaryan. Here’s a look at all those who won titles:

After a hot start that saw him run him it up to three times the starting stack, Matt Affleck opened the betting with a raise to 1,700 from the button. Action folded around to Michael Wang in middle position for a three-bet to 4,400. Affleck made the call.

The flop was {6-Spades}{a-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Wang continued for 2,300. Affleck made the flat call and the turn was {2-Hearts}.

Both players checked the turn and the {k-Diamonds} river. Wang turned over {a-Spades}{j-Spades} for two pair, aces and twos. Affleck mucked his cards and Wang scooped an early pot.

Action opened with a raise from Michael Berk in middle position for 800. The player in the cutoff called and the rest of the table got out of the way.

The flop was {2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{j-Spades} and Berk led out for 700. The player in the cutoff made the call to see a turn {8-Clubs}.

Berk fired 5,800 at the turn and the player in the cutoff tanked for a brief moment before making the fold.

A player under the gun open-shoved for 4500 and Harlen Miller made the call. Josias Santos three-bet shoved from the big blind and Miller was covered by Santos but he made the quick call.

The player under the gun turned over {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, Miller showed {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, and Santos had {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

The board ran out {4-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{10-Spades} and Santos scored the double elimination with three fives.

2021 MSPT Grand Falls main event champion Nicholas Smith was in middle position and called a 500 raise from a player under the gun. The small blind came along for a three-way pot and the flop was {9-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{k-Hearts}.

All three players checked the flop and the turn was {j-Diamonds}. Action checked to Smith and he led out for 1,300 to get a fold from the other two players.

The small pot caps off an early run by the champ. Smith looks to make it back to back main event titles on the MSPT circuit.

With around 1,000 in the pot and a flop of {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, Wayne Harmon led out for 1,100 from the big blind. Michael Berk made the call from middle position.

The turn was {7-Clubs} and Harmon fired 3,500. Berk made another call and the river was {10-Spades}.

Harmon bet 14,000 on the river to a call from Berk. Harmon showed {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for three sevens to take the pot and chip back up after falling behind early.

The flop was {10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and Daniels continued with a bet of 1,100. The small blind made the check-call and the turn was {2-Hearts}.

The small blind checked again on the turn and Daniels bet 2,300 into another check-call.

The river was {9-Diamonds} and the small blind checked for a third time. Daniels bet 10,500 and his opponent made the fold.
