Peake Continues Stacking Chips

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Carlton Peake raised it up on the button and Jennifer Gianera defended from the big blind. The flop came {j-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Gianera check-called a bet from Peake.

The turn brought the {8-Spades} and Gianera checked again. Peake threw in a bet of 4,000 only to have Gianera check-raise to 11,000. Peake called and the {4-Diamonds} paired the board on the river.

Gianera slowed down with a check on the river and Peake quickly knuckled the table as well. Gianera tabled {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} but Peake showed {j-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a better two pair, scooping another pot.

Haynes Fades a Flush

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

On a flop of {9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, Desmond Haynes led out with a bet in early position. His opponent on his left stuck in a raise and the action folded back to Haynes who shoved all in for 36,500. His opponent dropped in the chips to call and the cards were on their backs.

Desmond Haynes: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}

Haynes flopped a set of nines but his opponent was still live with a flush draw. The {6-Hearts} on the turn changed nothing and the {2-Diamonds} on the river improved Haynes to a full house for a double-up.

Romero Finds a Quick Double Up

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

James Romero was one of a few players to recently join the field and the poker pro wasted no time in putting his chips to work. The board read {k-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}{q-Clubs} with just under 22,000 chips in the middle.

Romero got the last of his 14,300 chips in the middle on the turn and the cards were tabled. Romero showed {k-Clubs}{j-Spades} but had to fade the river as his opponent tabled {k-Spades}{9-Spades}. The river was the {4-Clubs} and Romero held on to score a double up.

Whetstone's Satellite Run is Short-Lived

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Raechel Whetstone was one of the fortunate players to win a satellite into the MSPT Main Event and made the trek to The Venetian poker room all the way from Honolulu, Hawaii. Whetstone came into the event with an aggressive game plan and didn't hold back.

On a board of {j-}{3-}{2-}{6-}{3-}, Whetstone fired out bets on the flop and turn. She was called by Bessareen Gonzalez on both streets. Whetstone unloaded the clip by shoving all in on the river but Gonzalez looked her up.

Whetstone tabled {q-}{10-} for complete air and Gonzales flipped over {k-}{j-} for top pair to send Whetstone to the rail.

Set Over Set Favors Lin

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

After a limp in middle position, Ohad Enzel raised to 1,500 in the cutoff. Xiang Lin three-bet to 4,300 from the small blind which only Enzel called.

The flop came {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Lin led out with a bet of 3,000. Enzel just called and the {3-Spades} on the turn didn't change the complexion of the board. Lin checked this time and Enzel tossed in a bet of 5,000. Lin check-raised all in for 16,900 and Enzel quickly called.

Lin flipped over {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for a set of queens which left Enzel devastated with {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} for a set of jacks. The {3-Hearts} on the turn improved both players to a full house but it was Lin who doubled up with the bigger of the two.
