Ivey vs Salter vs Ivey

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Yesterday, Jack Salter tweeted that he finally ended up on the same table as legend Phil Ivey, and table four was the first to break right after registration closed. Salter was moved over to table three and found himself up against Ivey.

Both just got into a small pot that ended up in the favor of Ivey, before Salter won a far bigger one soon after.

Hand 1

Ivey made it 18,000 to go and Salter called in the big blind. On the {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, Salter check-called a bet worth 20,000 before then check-folding the {4-Diamonds} turn to a second barrel worth 55,000.

Hand 2

Salter opened to 17,000 on the button and Ivey called in the big blind to see a flop of {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Ivey check-called a bet worth 11,000 before doing so again on the {8-Hearts} turn for 28,000. The {Q-Hearts} river completed the board and Ivey checked for a third time. Salter now fired 90,000 and Ivey gave him a stare down before eventually calling. Salter turned over {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} for a full house to boost his stack.

Aido Jumps Into the Lead

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Zuo Wang
Zuo Wang

Zuo Wang got his last 160,000 chips in before the flop with {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and table neighbor Sergio Aido looked him up with the {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. After a board of {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, Aido got there on the river and Wang was eliminated.

Aido picked up another small pot with {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} against start-of-the-day chip leader Elton Tsang and further built his stack.

Rush Hour for Peters

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

After doubling through Zuo Wang the previous hand, David Peters has just scooped another pot by eliminating Mikita Badziakouski.

Peters raised from the cutoff and Badziakouski defended the big blind. On the {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{8-Clubs} flop, Badziakouski checked and Peters continued for 12,000. Badziakouski check-raised all in and Peters called after getting a count on the shove of Badziakouski for 132,000 in total.

Mikita Badziakouski: {J-Spades}{5-Spades}
David Peters: {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

The {3-Hearts} turn and {J-Clubs} river changed nothing, as Badziakouski missed out on his flush draw, and the kicker played to eliminate the Belorussian.

Yong Runs Into Aido's Aces to Bust

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Richard Yong
Richard Yong

A personalized golden iPhone was next to table two and belongs to Founder of Triton Richard Yong. It won't tell any good news to friends, as Yong has just busted in a big pot after four-betting into Sergio Aido to let the Spaniard jump into second place.

Yong opened the action with a raise to 20,000 and Aido three-bet from the cutoff to 53,000. Yong shoved for more than 300,000 and Aido snap-called for a reason.

Richard Yong: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Sergio Aido: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{K-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Yon was sent to the rail early on Day 2.

Cao Busts to Tang

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Rui Cao
Rui Cao

Rui Cao became the first casualty of the day, having missed the first few hands only and then facing a raise to 17,000 by Mustapha Kanit. Cao shoved with his short stack of around 150,000 and Devan Tang reshoved from two seats over to isolate successfully.

Rui Cao: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Devan Tang: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

"King queen?" Cao said somewhat upset when he noticed the hand of his opponent. The flop fell {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Tang had flopped the flush, Cao was drawing dead by the {8-Diamonds} turn already. A meaningless {A-Spades} river completed the board and Cao left as quickly as he arrived.

Aido Takes from Phua

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Hand 1

Paul Phua opened to 20,000 and Sergio Aido three-bet to 58,000 out of the small blind. Phua asked him for the stack size and elected to call. On the {K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop, Aido continued for 43,000 and Phua called before the {K-Clubs} fell on the turn. Aido's next barrel was worth 100,000 and that won the pot.

Hand 2

Daniel Colman made it 18,000 to go and Phua called from one seat over. Mikita Badziakouski three-bet to 50,000 with 149,000 behind and the action folded back to Phua. He glanced over at the stack of his opponent and moved all in, Badziakouski folded.

Aldemir Takes One

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Wai Kin Yong has shown up just in time to see Koray Aldemir raise to 18,000 from early position, while Phil Ivey also strolled into the tournament a few minutes late as well.

Dan Cates defended the big blind and checked a flop of {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, Aldemir checked behind. On the {5-Diamonds} turn, Cates check-raised from 25,000 to 80,000 and even called the clock after a rather short time on Aldemir. The German called with less than 100,000 behind before the {2-Diamonds} river then went check, check.

"One pair," Cates announced and showed {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Aldemir turned over {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and scooped the pot. "Oh you did have the ace of diamonds," Cates added.
