Chan Takes Care of Nitsche

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

Chan Wai Leong raised to 40,000 in the small blind and Dominik Nitsche defended his big blind.

The flop came down {2-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Chan bet 52,000. Nitsche double checked his hand and then moved all in for 195,000. Unfortunately for him, Chan had an easy call to make with {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}.

Nitsche had {K-Spades}{8-Hearts} and hoped to see some of his five outs on the turn or river but the {J-Diamonds} and {7-Hearts} sent him packing.

Nitsche was eliminated in 17th place and the remaining players were redrawn to the last two tables.

Peters Chipping Up

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

David Peters opened from the cutoff with a raise to 27,000. Stephen Chidwick called on the button as did Andrew Robl in the small blind. Luc Greenwood closed the action by calling in the big blind.

The flop was {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and action checked to Peters who put out a bet of 40,000. Only Chidwick called.

The turn was the {Q-Spades} and thsi time Peters bet again, making it 140,000. Chidwick wasted no time folding so Peters took down the pot.

Ivey Eliminated by Greenwood

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Sam Greenwood opened to 30,000 from the hijack with {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Phil Ivey shoved from the cutoff with {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for 231,000. Action folded back to Greenwood and he called putting Ivey at risk with his covering stack.

The board ran out {K-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Greenwood would river overkill, making a set against Ivey to send him to the rail. Greenwood took down the pot and chipped up to over 1,700,000 while Ivey was sent home after a brutal week of tournament poker for him.

Yong Gets Three Streets of Value With Kings

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Richard Yong made it 26,000 in the hijack and Peter Jetten defended his big blind. Jetten called down on the {10-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts} board, check-calling 25,000 on the flop, then 75,000 on the turn and finally 100,000 on the river. His {J-Hearts}{8-Clubs} was, however, the second best hand as Yong held {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}.

Greenwood Goes Bet-Bet-Shove, Yong Doesn't Care

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Sam Greenwood raised to 25,000 in the hijack and Richard Yong called in the big blind.

The flop fell {Q-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Greenwood bet 15,000, earning a check-call from Yong. The {8-Hearts} turn saw Greenwood fire 30,000 and Yong called.

Greenwood's pocket pair was counterfeited by the {Q-Diamonds} river and Yong checked for one final time. Greenwood jammed for 138,000 and Yong called within a few seconds, busting Greenwood's bluff to score a double up.

Robl Jams on the Turn

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Andrew Robl made it 25,000 under the gun and Stephen Chidwick called in the big blind. Chidwick let Robl continue for 15,000 on the {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop and then check-raised to 38,000. Robl called.

The turn was the {6-Spades} and Chidwick checked. Robl needed some time to process his options so he burned a timebank chip. Then he moved all in for 169,000. Chidwick gave it a brief thought but then decided to fold his hand, leaving Robl with the pot.

Phua Eliminated by Kenney

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Paul Phua
Paul Phua

Paul Phua and Bryn Kenney were in the battle of the blinds and they stuffed their chips in preflop with Kenney all in for 238,000. Phua had him covered by only 1,000 so it was practically a race for tournament lives.

Phua: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Kenney: {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Phua was ahead on the flop and turn of the {K-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts} board but the eight on the river sent him to the smallest possible stack while Kenney doubled. Phua lost his remaining chip in the following minutes, losing another flip against Kenney.

Sam Greenwood had an inferior two pair hand with {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs} in the big and he called. Badziakouski showed the winner and claimed the pole position
