Koon was the leader when the dust settled, thanks in part to the elimination of Wei Hsiang Yeu in the final level of the evening. The GGPoker Ambassador was a fixture near the top of the leaderboard throughout the day, taking advantage of the big swings in a game that lends itself to a lot of shoving and jamming.
The chip leader is followed closely by Elton Tsang in second and Phil Ivey in third. Veteran Short Deck players Wai Kin Yong and Ivan Leow round out the top five.
Players return tomorrow at 1 p.m. EEST for the Day 2 finale. Action picks back up in Level 13 with antes at 20,000, while the button will commit 40,000. Levels will increase every 40 minutes, and play will continue tomorrow until a winner is declared. The plan is to take a 15-minute break every three levels.
