The penultimate day of the first-ever $8,000 Triton ONE Main Event reached its conclusion in the wee hours of Monday with 16 players remaining on the quest for the title and top prize of $1,367,000.

The Triton ONE Main Event drew 1,046 runners for a prize pool of $7,607,558. Out in front at the end of Day 2 is China's Yuefeng Pan, who bagged a stack of 33,900,000 over big stacks Joshua Gebissa (32,775,000) and Ruogo Wen (28,725,000).

Further down in the counts but still in the running are high-stakes pros Igor Yaroshevskyy and Punnat Punsri, while Teoh Ming Juen and Takashi Yagura will have their work cut out for them on Day 3 as the short stacks.

Money Bubble Bursts on Day 2

The day began with 218 players remaining and it didn't take long to reach the money bubble with only 167 places paid. Those who were eliminated before reaching the money include Roman Hrabec, David Wang, Phachara Wongwichit, Xixiang Luo, Mustapha Kanit and Stephen Song.

Ye Li fell on the soft bubble as her top two pair were crushed by the top set of Mehdi Chaoui, while Daniil Vasilev, Hongjun Zhao and Quan Qiu were all lucky enough to double up to avoid losing out on a payday.

There were two more doubles and a chop before Yuan Xu was forced all in from the big blind and unable to survive.

The bustouts only got quicker from there, including the eliminations of Germany's Konstantin Held (144th - $12,200), American pros Steve O'Dwyer (127th - $13,200), Joseph Cheong (112th - $14,900) and David Chen (75th - $16,500), and Triton ambassador Danny Tang (99th - $14,900).

Back-to-back World Series of Poker (WSOP) Ladies Event champion Shiina Okamoto was looking for another big run just days after winning the EPT Barcelona Women's Event, but her run ended in 70th place as her small ace was dominated by the Big Slick of Weiran Pu.

Another notable in the field, poker gorilla Jesse Lonis, bagged a top-three stack on Day 1B and added more chips early on Day 2 before ultimately losing a flip with ace-queen to the pocket eights of Yuefeng Pan.

There were highlights both off and on the feature table, and one of the latter including a set-up hand where Igor Yaroshevskyy flopped Broadway against Sergei Petrushevskii's set of aces, only to be turned dead as the board paired. Both players slow-played trying to trap the other and Yaroshevskyy couldn't avoid paying off a river raise to lose a decent portion of his stack.

The eliminations of fan-favorite Ren Lin and Japan's Naohiro Matsuda in 18th place and 17th place, respectively, marked the end of Day 2 as the final two tables were formed.

Day 3 will kick off at noon local time (around 1 p.m. on stream) on Monday, Sept. 8 and will play down to a winner, who will earn $1,367,000 and the honor of being named the first-ever Triton ONE Main Event champion.

There are 9 minutes and 47 seconds left in Level 26 with blinds of 200,000/400,000/400,000.
