Simao Doubles Through Boivin, Who Then Hits a Miracle

Level 20 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Miroslav Atanasov opened to 175,000 from the hijack with 98 and was three-bet to 1,400,000 by Thomas Boivin in the cutoff. Joao Simao then moved all in for 1,915,000 on the button, which got a fold from Atanasov, but a call from Boivin, who held a slightly bigger stack than Simao.

Joao Simao: AAAll in
Thomas Boivin: AJ

It was the worst-possible matchup for Boivin, and the K285J runout bricked out — awarding Simao a massive double-up and leaving Boivin with just 15,000.

On the very next hand, Boivin committed his final chips into the middle from the hijack with 87. Nick Petrangelo called in the small blind with A3 and Atanasov checked his option in the big blind holding 42.

Petrangelo check-called an 80,000 bet from Atanasov on the 42K flop, but check-folded after Atanasov barreled for 160,000 on the 6 turn.

Boivin was drawing to a five only, and sure enough, the 5 appeared on the river — filling Boivin's straight draw to keep his run alive.
