Sharda and Progner Bow Out in Quick Succession

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Ravi Sharda ended up all-in and at risk for what appeared to be 60,000 and he was snap-called by Tim Slater in the big blind.

Ravi Sharda: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Tim Slater: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs} board kept the superior hand in the lead throughout as Slater scored the knockout with the superior flush.

Also no longer in contention is Boris Progner, who departed right after on the same table. Down to a short stack he got it in with the {q-Clubs}{10-Spades} only for Youness Barakat to snap him off with the {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}. The {j-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades} board left Progner drawing dead on the turn while Barakat chipped up further after the earlier setbacks.

Down to the Final Nine Tables

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Mike Panteli walked into the tournament area to bump fists with several players and wished them good luck including current big stack James Rann. There was only one reason for that as Panteli had been among the last four casualties and the field was reduced to 72 players, spread evenly over the last nine tables.

Slack Doubles Through Mohamed in Large Pot

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Ben Slack
Ben Slack

Ben Slack started the action with a raise to 11,000 from under the gun. Michael Ramiro then three-bet on the button for what appeared to be 30,000 and Ahamed Mohamed four-bet jammed for around 400,000. Slack instantly called and Ramiro got out of the way.

Ben Slack: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Ahamed Mohamed: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The dominated pair found no improvement on a board of {7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Slack doubled for around 300,000.

Tomkevicius Runs Out of Fumes

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Eirimas Tomkevicius had previously doubled his very short stack and then got it in once more with a suited ace, picking up a call by Gary Solomons.

Eirimas Tomkevicius: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}
Gary Solomons: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop improved Tomkevicius but he fell behind on the {j-Diamonds} turn, then found no help on the {9-Hearts} river to become the next casualty.

Next Batch of Bustouts

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

As the rampage on the tables continues, Conor O'Driscoll and Arthur Conan were included in the latest batch of bustouts and there are only 76 players still in the mix.

Stepa Eliminated by Doshi

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

The cards were already on their backs with Michal Stepa as the player at risk holding the {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. The step came at the worst possible time as Paresh Doshi had him utterly crushed, holding the {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}.

There was no help at all on the {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{k-Spades}{j-Clubs} board as Stepa became the next casualty.

Caabay Doubles Through Sitbon

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Julien Sitbon had chipped up prior and after the money bubble to then take on Raymond Caabay in a preflop contest with the latter at risk for 130,000.

Sitbon was flipping with {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} versus {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and found an ace on the {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop but Caabay was way ahead with the middle set. The double was confirmed on the {10-Spades} turn to make the {8-Diamonds} river a formality.

Didenka Busts Sheperd

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Liudas Didenka
Liudas Didenka

Liudas Didenka raised and instantly called the three-bet shove by William Shepherd for what appeared to be 80,000.

William Shepherd: {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Liudas Didenka: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop gave Shepherd some outs with the open-ender while Didenka held the dominating flush draw. Nothing changed on the {9-Hearts} turn and the {k-Clubs} river knocked out Shepherd as Didenke's nut flush was good enough to deal the final blow.

Eminoglu Busts Beuter

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Patrick Beuter was spotted vaulting out of his chair and was the player at risk with the {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. Yucel Eminoglu had that crushed with the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} and had little to fear on the {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} runout.

Several other players bowed out right after that as the field was already reduced to fewer than 80 hopefuls.
