Running Up and Down the Field

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

The very next all-in showdown over on table one featured a new arrival in Daniel Field, who put Eugenio Peralta to the test in a preflop contest.

Eugenio Peralta: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Daniel Field: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Peralta had the bets of it and prevailed thanks to the {9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} board.

However, shortly after Field made up for the previous loss when his {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} held against the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} of Hon Ban Lee. They got it in preflop once more and the {8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{q-Diamonds} board sent Lee to the rail.

Simmons Busts Ilyukhin

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Victor Ilyukhin Sr had nursed a short stack throughout the day and secured one pay jump. However, he then ultimately ran out of chips eventually. Down to the last 42,000, he shipped it in with the {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Paul Simmons tabled the {a-Spades}{7-Spades}.

Both paired up on the {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop, the {3-Diamonds} turn and {2-Spades} river then failed to improve Ilyukhin.

Grafton Eliminated by Mohamed

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Sam Grafton
Sam Grafton

Sam Grafton started the action with a preflop raise from under the gun and the action ultimately led to him getting the chips in and Ahamed Mohamed doing so as well on the button. Both had near identical stack sizes and it was Mohamed at risk but holding the superior hand heading into the showdown.

Ahamed Mohamed: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Sam Grafton: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Once the {q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop appeared, Mohamed vaulted out of his seat and already started grabbing his belongings. One of the oldest tricks in the history of live poker did its magic once more as the {k-Clubs} turn restored the preflop order. Nothing changed anymore with the {j-Hearts} river and Mohamed doubled for 197,000.

Grafton was down to 10,000 and forced all-in from the big blind next. Mohamed raised to 14,000 and forced out all other players.

Sam Grafton: {6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}
Ahamed Mohamed: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

There was a faint glimpse of comeback until the {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs} turn but the {4-Spades} river spelled the end for the PokerStars ambassador.

Maini Escapes From Elimination

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Dan Wilson and Georgios Sarafalntin were the next two players sent to the rail and Vishal Maini all but joined them. He three-bet jammed a short stack with the {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and was looked up by the initial raiser Henrik Hecklen, who tabled the {q-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

The {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop changed nothing yet but Hecklen took the lead on the {q-Diamonds} turn. However, there was one further twist as the {6-Clubs} river improved Maini to a set of sixes.

Slater Left Short as Ji Flips Well

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Min Ji
Min Ji

Tim Slater took several hits after he was moved tables and the latest one put a big dent into his stack as he clashed with Min Ji in a preflop flip.

Min Ji: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Tim Slater: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

The dreadful ace appeared right away on the {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop, the {q-Clubs} turn and {8-Diamonds} river then changed nothing anymore. Ji doubled for 126,000 and Slater was reduced to around ten blinds for the next level.

Sebastian Skurzynski was also reduced to a short stack when he raised the button to 15,000 and then called the shove by Masoud Etemadiherisi in the big blind for 65,000.

Masoud Etemadiherisi: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Sebastian Skurzynski: {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

The {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} board kept Etemadiherisi in the mix as he surpassed Skurzynski on the leaderboard.

Trotter Turns a Pair to Double

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Paul Trotter
Paul Trotter

In a case of deja vu, Julien Sitbon had increased his stack to then take on an opponent in the bottom half of the leaderboard for yet another preflop contest. This happened to be Paul Trotter in the cutoff, who got it in for 125,000.

Paul Trotter: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Julien Sitbon: {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{k-Clubs}{6-Clubs} board improved Trotter and Sitbon dropped back below half a million in chips.

Duta and Boon Hit Field Goals

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Florian Duta came back from very few blinds and got at least one shove through. He then raised to 16,000 and called all-in when Daniel Field pushed out of the small blind.

Florian Duta: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Daniel Field: {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}

The {q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} board almost completed a straight but Duta doubled.

Robert Boon then got it in via open-shove for 74,000 with the {a-Spades}{q-Spades} and Field called on the button with the {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}. A sigh by Field was the result after the {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} board delivered yet another double for the player at risk.

Bashlawi Eliminated by Ponomarev

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Max Bashlawi raised in the hijack and was called by Kully Sidhu in the cutoff. Nikolay Ponomarev then three-bet out of the small blind and Bashlawi was the only caller. The flop fell {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Ponomarev bet 40,000, Bashlawi jammed and Ponomarev called.

Max Bashlawi: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Nikolay Ponomarev: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The {a-Spades} turn improved Bashlawi but the {q-Diamonds} river gate Ponomarev the broadway straight. Both stacks were counted and the 218,000 of Ponomarev covered to eliminate Bashlawi.
