Massive Pot for Chris Day as Anaras Alekberovas Busts Out

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Anaras Alekberovas raised to15,600 from the small blind and was met by a three-bet from big stack Chris Day in the big blind. Alekberovas was hardly short himself and called.

The dealer put out a flop of {j-Spades}{7-Clubs}{a-Clubs}.

Alekberovas liked the flop and bet big, but it seemed that Day liked it even better and re-raised all in putting Alekberovas at risk for his tournament life.

Alekberovas wasted little time in calling and tabled the {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. He was in trouble though as Day had him crushed with the {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {3-Hearts}, followed by the {q-Clubs} river, and a massive pot was shipped to Day while Alekberovas was sent to the rail. Day is up to approximately 240,000.

One and Done for Dinneen

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Irish Poker Championship winner Trevor Dinneen finally made his way to our tournament, and he last just one hand.

His demise came when Jake Cody opened for 2,500 under the gun only to have Dermot Blain three-bet to 6,200. When action reached Dinneen in the big blind, he called off his last 3,700 and Cody got out of the way. Dinneen tabled the {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, but he was well behind the {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} of Blain. The board ran out {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} tp improve Blain to a straight, sending Dinneen to the rail. Dineen's friends, who had been sweating him in the IPC, gave him a hard time by telling him just how unlucky he was.

Charlie Combes is Out

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Niall Farell opened in first position and was raised by Kyle Maguire, sitting next to him, to 5,200. Charlie Combes decided to shove all-in and while Farell folded, Maguire made a confident call.

Combes tabled {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} but Maguire had him crushed with {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The final board was {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} Maguire’s quads sealing the deal for Combes

Marcin Kreft Eliminated by Day at Night

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Chris Day found another victim in Marcin Kreft.

Kreft shoved over the top of Day’s raise and was quickly called. It was Kreft’s pocket {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} versus Day’s pocket {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

When the board ran out {q-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} it was all over for Kreft and Day cruised on.

Ten-Minute Break as Seven Remain

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The remaining seven players have agreed to play through the money bubble. Since Level 9 has expired, they will take a ten-minute break and then return to play. We're guessing it won't take too terribly long.

Maguire Sees the Day Light

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Chris Day opened preflop to 3,700 and Kyle Maguire made the call on the button. Day unloaded the clip, firing barrels of 4,100, 9,100 and 17,400 on the flop, turn and river of the {Q-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} board before announcing "King-high" when he was called on the river. Maguire showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and quickly scooped the pot.

Don't Look!

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Oh dear, poor old Jake Cody.

The Team PokerStars Pro saw action passed to him in the small blind but he looked at his cards and folded {3-Hearts}{2-Spades} face up to Sergio Aido in the big blind. Aido showed him {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

Will Cody perhaps regret looking at his cards?
