Gavin Clubs Someone to Death

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Fintan Gavin bet 1,500 on a flop of {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{A-Hearts} before another player check-raised all in.

"I'm afraid I'm going to have to call you," said Gavin turning over {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. His opponent looked sad, having to turn over {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. The {4-Hearts} turn and the {K-Hearts} river changed nothing. Gavin is up to 45,000.

Hand Reading With Coren Mitchell

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Vicky Coren
Vicky Coren

Duncan McLellan raised to 1,000 under the gun and picked up one caller, Victoria Coren Mitchell in the small blind. They went to a flop of {k-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Coren Mitchell check-called a bet of 1,000. They both checked the turn card {k-Clubs} and when the river fell the {j-Clubs} Coren Mitchell checked and faced a bet of 2,200.

“You’ve got jacks haven’t you? I bet you have jacks.” Coren Mitchell said before shrugging and paying the bet. McLellan turned over {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a different sort of full house and Coren Mitchell was relieved she hadn’t been rivered. Quizzed on her hand she said she didn’t have a king but did say,” I had a very big hand.” regretting not raising preflop and that the 1,000 under the gun open had confused her. “You didn’t put me on king six?” McLellan asked jokingly.

“The old king six.”was Coren Mitchell's response to that. McLellan is surviving while Coren Mitchells stack is dwindling.

MoneyMaker Back To Starting Stack

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker opened for 600 from early position and picked up three callers. He continued for 600 on the flop of {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and reduced the filed to one caller. The turn card {a-Diamonds} saw another bet of 1,700 from Moneymaker and that got a call too. The river was the {8-Diamonds} and a final bet of 2,800 from Moneymaker saw a brief pause before he was called and turned over {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. He was just out pipped by his opponent’s {a-Spades}{j-Spades}.

“I felt like you wanted a call.” His opponent said and Moneymaker said he was 50/50, explaining that he would have likely had to face a bet anyway if he checked.

On the next hand Moneymaker opened for 600 under the gun, picked up two callers only to see a player in late position raise to 2,000. Moneymaker made it 5,000 to go with 16,000 behind. The raiser gave him a look before folding and was told, “Best fold you’ve made all day.”

“I’ve made some good folds today.” came the reply, but Moneymaker teasingly told him, “No you haven’t.”

The floor staff are just checking the no-shows, but there's estimated to be roughly 400 runners in total over the two start days, this means an overlay of around the £70,000 mark. Good luck everyone.

Spinks Doubles Up

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

After a raise to 600 and a call, Ross Mannion made it 2,050 in the small blind before Jon Spinks four-bet all in for 7,300 in the big blind. The initial raiser and caller folded and Mannion made a quick call.

Mannion: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Spinks: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The board came {7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Spinks recovered most of his early losses.
