A Trio of Simple Hands

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

Over on Table 6, Viktoras Bielinis opened for 1,200 chips from under the gun and watched the action fold to Kamil Paluszkiewicz on the button. Paluszkiewicz three-bet to 3,800 and Bielinis made the call. The flop came down {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Bielinis check-folded to a 7,000 continuation bet.

Table 13 saw Andrii Ratushnyi raise to 2,000 from early position and then call a re-raise to 4,400 from Henrik Hoglund on the button. Like the hand on Table 6 above, Ratushnyi check-folded when facing a 7,000 bet on the {6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop.

Finally, from the hijack, Matas Levanas opened with a raise to 1,700 and both Tom Blair (cutoff) and Diogo Borges (big blind) called.

Borges checked to Levanas on the {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop, Levanas bet 2,700 and Blair instantly folded. Borges also folded, but it took him around 30-seconds to make that decision.

Levanas looks to be our chip leader at the moment and has 150,000 chips.

Kellcher's Turn Check-Raise Doesn't Work

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

Vera Kellcher tested the waters with a 2,200 bet on the {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop but it wasn't enough to get Paul McTaggart to fold his hand. The turn was the {3-Hearts} and Kellcher got creative and initially checked then made it 8,000 to go when McTaggart bet out for 3,500. McTaggart called this bet and the dealer placed the {A-Diamonds} onto the river.

Kellcher knocked on the table and checked. McTaggart checked behind and pulled in the pot courtesy of his {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} being better than Kellcher's {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

Bonnet Busts at the Hands of Granskas

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

Unibet France sponsored player Charles Bonnet was all-in for his last 11,000 chips, his tournament hopes pinned to the {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} in front of him. Bonnet needed to avoid a king or queen because Ramunas Granskas called the all-in bet with {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

Sadly for Bonnet, the door card of the {K-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop was a king and the fact there were two hearts present meant he was now drawing to a single non-heart three. The {10-Diamonds} was the turn and this was followed onto the river by the {J-Hearts} and with that Bonnet was gone.

Bielinis Adds to His Stack

Level 5 : 300/600, 100 ante

A raise to 1,200 from Viktoras Bielinis from under the gun was called by Andrzej Kulka to his immediate left, then by Paul McTaggart in the small blind and Istvan Balaskovits in the big blind.

The blinds checked to Bielinis on the {3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop, Bielinis bet 2,600 and only McTaggart called. The turn brought the {10-Hearts} into play and McTaggart checked its arrival. Bielinis fired a second barrel, this one worth 4,000 and this was enough to force a fold from McTaggart.

Mortensen and McTaggart Lock Horns

Level 5 : 300/600, 100 ante

Denmark's Morten Mortensen has been moved to the table where Scottish pro Paul McTaggart is seated and this could lead to some fireworks as the tournament progresses.

We were hoping for such fireworks when Mortensen opened to 1,400 from early position and McTaggart called on the button. A {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop ended up being checked by both players and when Mortensen fired a 1,800 bt on the {5-Clubs} turn, McTaggart let his hand go.

Did Hamard Have a Six?

Level 5 : 300/600, 100 ante

Jonathan Hamard was in the big blind contemplating what to do on the {5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop. He opted to check which prompted seasoned pro Pieter de Korver to try his luck with a 1,900 bet. Hamard called this bet and the dealer put the {4-Diamonds} onto the turn. Both players checked its arrival and the dealer burned a card then placed the {A-Spades} onto the felt.

with an ace-to five wheel straight on the board, Hamard moved all-in for 15,500. de Korver rechecked his hole cards before folding and allowing Hamard to rake in the pot.

Ozimek Doubles Through Quignard

Level 5 : 300/600, 100 ante

Michael Ozimek has a little more breathing room here n Glasgow after doubling his stack through Pierre-Antoine Quignard.

All the chips — 8,250 for Ozimek — went into the middle preflop with Ozimek holding {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} and needing to win a coinflip versus the {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} of Quignard. And win it he did as the {3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades}{q-Clubs} board ran out safe for pocket nines and Ozimek doubled.
