Espensen Doubles; Cohen Doesn't

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

Avi Cohen has been eliminated while Ronnie Espensen escaped from that. Johan Goslings open-shoved the small blind and Espensen called all in for his last 8,200 in the big blind with the {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}. Goslings only had {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and the board came {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

Zcharya Builds Stack

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

Nicolae Cristian Rosca raised to 2,200 and Alexandru Necalue from two seats over, Tomer Zcharya called in the small blind, as well as Danut Marius Dinca in the big blind came along. On the {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop, Dinca bet 2,875 and Rosca folded. Necalue called and Zcharya then check-raised to 6,700.

Dinca, who was just enjoying a deep massage, eventually folded and Necalue also let go.

Christmas Comes Early for Heikkila

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

The cards of Pavlos Xanthopoulos were all but gone and next to no chips were in the middle of the table while the stack of Markus Heikkila was counted. The Swede had his {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} still in front and doubled for 40,250 after a board of {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. According to Kevin Killeen, who sits next to Heikkila, a raising war saw Xanthopoulos five-bet shove with the {K-}{8-} preflop to lose more than half his stack.

Murariu Busts Newport

Level 5 : 300/600, 75 ante
Dan Murariu with decent start in Bucharest
Dan Murariu with decent start in Bucharest

Nicholas Newport, who finished 4th at the record-breaking Estrellas Main Event in Barcelona earlier this year, has become the latest victim of the hot run of Dan Murariu. Newport raised to 1,200 from the hijack and Murariu three-bet to 3,600 on the button, Murariu called.

Both players checked the {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop and Newport then bet the {10-Hearts} turn for 4,000, Murariu called. On the {5-Hearts} river, Newport shoved for around 14,000 with the {A-Spades}{10-Spades} for top pair and Murariu snap-called with {8-Spades}{4-Spades} for the straight.

Three Down the Drain

Level 5 : 300/600, 75 ante

Alex Hendriks busted some half an hour ago and Jasper Wetemans found no help with ace-queen against ace-king.

David Vanderheyden was moved to the feature table along with big stack Eli Heath and jammed his short stack from under the gun with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} to move up to 13 big blinds.

The next hand, Radu Danut raised to 1,400 and Gabor Bank flat-called in the small blind. Vanderheyden shoved the big blind for around 8,800 and Danut looked him up, while Bank folded the {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

David Vanderheyden: {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Radu Danut: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and the trips queens won the pot for Danut, eliminating Vanderheyden in the process.

Norel Loses a Big Chunk

Level 5 : 300/600, 75 ante

On a flop of {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, a raising war broke out between Eduard Norel and Atef Ramadan. The former started pretty well into Day 1a and was a big stack early on, but he just lost a decent chunk of the stack. Ramadan had gotten his last 18,575 in after the flop with the {J-Spades}{9-Spades} for bottom two pair and Norel looked him up with {A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for top pair.

The {6-Clubs} turn and {Q-Spades} river both blanked and Ramadan doubled.

Bordei Doubles With Kings

Level 5 : 300/600, 75 ante

After a raise by Vladislav Donchev from the button, Razvan Bordei made it 4,200 to go in the small blind and Gusti Adrian Sas called in the big blind. Donchev then reraised to 11,200 and Bordei moved all in to force a fold from Sas and a call by Donchev.

Razvan Bordei: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Vladislav Donchev: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}

The board came {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and that doubled Bordei and cut Donchev's stack into half.

Parlafes Under Pressure; Flesner Loses a Ton

Level 5 : 300/600, 75 ante

Just before the break, Emanuel Flesner had doubled but that stack has now all but melted to a mere 4,000. He was unable to beat the {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} of Luciana Manolea with {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts} on a board of {J-Clubs}{10-Spades}{A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and will need some fortune to spin up the stack again.

Dany Parlafes one table over has more chips, but is also under pressure. On the {A-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{K-Hearts} turn he check-called a bet of 3,000 and then checked the {3-Hearts} river. Denis Ioan Poteras bet more than enough to give Parlafes just the option to fold with 20 big blinds behind or call all in, and enforced the former.
