"Is It My Instinct That Tells Me To Call, Or Is It My Ego?"

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante
Christian Andersen
Christian Andersen

From first position Arne Coulier, two time Belgian Poker Challenge winner, opened for 1,800. He got called by his neighbor, Christian Andersen in the hijack, and the player in the big blind.

The big blind checked on {7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Coulier continued for 3,600. His neighbor folded, Andersen called, the big blind folded.

The {J-Spades} hit the turn and Coulier checked. Andersen made a bet of 7,800 and Coulier called. Coulier checked again on the {9-Hearts} river and Andersen quickly bet 20,000 by tossing in four 5,000-chips.

"That's an interesting one," Coulier said.

"I assume you think I have an over pair and expect a call. That was pretty fast though" Coulier continued.

Andersen remained quiet, and Coulier said "Sorry guys, I might need a minute here,"

"It's a fun one, either way. A rivered set of nines makes sense, or flopped sets for that matter" Coulier continued his monologue.

"No hints? No clues? How's winter in Rozvadov?" Coulier asked.

Andersen remained silent, staring to the centre of the table without so much of a sigh.

"So tilting, if I call and lose I probably won't make the dinner break. If I call and win, I'm the hero."

"Is it my instinct that tells me to call, or is it my ego?" Coulier asked himself.

He then tossed in 20,000 to call and Andersen quickly tabled {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for the flopped set. "I guess it was my ego," Coulier ended the chatterbox.

Van Meene Doubles With Trips

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

We got there on the flop as both the small blind and big blind Tim van Meene checked on {10-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. In the hijack, Boris Kuzmanovic, presumably the initial raiser, made a bet of 3,200. The small blind called and Van Meene pushed all in for 14,100. Kuzmanovic tanked a bit before 3-betting to 28,200. The small blind folded.

Boris Kuzmanovic: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Tim van Meene: {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

The {K-Hearts} on the turn and {3-Hearts} on the river were both blanks, and Van Meene doubled up.

Ian Simpson Eliminated

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

We saw 2013 Irish Open champion Ian Simpson on the rail, reason enough for us to believe he had been eliminated. He was still all smiles, but confirmed our "read" that he was out.

Simpson was knocked down to just 1,300 after getting cold decked with {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} versus {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} on a 3-club board. He battled back to a playable stack, but lost all of his chips when he four-bet {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} all in against a squeeze on a table full of 3-bets. This time around his opponent had a real hand with {A-}{Q-}, and that hand held up.

"Sad face" Simpson said, though his actual face was far from looking down. "Side events, cash, drinks!" said Simpson with a big smile, "It's Malta!"

Melissa Posada Eliminated

Level 5 : 300/600, 100 ante
Melissa Posada
Melissa Posada

Melissa Posada, queen of hero calls and official owner of Pim de Goede, was nowhere to be seen anymore. De Goede told us what had happened.

Rafal Zgadzaj raised from late position and Melissa Posada called from the big blind. The flop came {J-}{9-}{7-} and Posada bet out 1,500. Zgadzaj raised to 5,500 and Posada made the call.

A {4-} fell on the turn and Posada front shipped all in for about 12,000 or so. Zgadzaj made the call holding {K-}{K-} and Posada tabled {J-}{6-}. The river was no jack or six and Posada made her exit.

Kristi Kirs Knocks Out Neighbor

Level 5 : 300/600, 100 ante
Kristi Kirs
Kristi Kirs

From the cutoff Mario Lepez raised to 1,500. His neighbor Gabor Beregi on the button made the call and small blind Joni Limatta shoved all in for 12,700. Big blind Kristi Kirs over shoved for 13,000 exactly and Lepez tank folded. Beregi folded as well, claiming to have had nines. Lepez told the table he had sixes, but was convinced he would have won.

"Ace king? Please?" asked Limatta. Kirs showed the {Q-Spades} first, followed by the {Q-Diamonds} for queens. Limatta showed {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}.

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Clubs} and Limatta made his exit. Both Beregi and Lepez would have beaten the queens and treys if they had what they claimed they had, but it was Kirs raking in the chips.

Tonny Krijn Eliminated

Level 5 : 300/600, 100 ante

Tonny Krijn's seat was vacant, and his former neighbor Dehlia de Jong told us he was indeed busted. De Jong hadn't really followed his ultimately final hand, but knew he had run into a flush to bust out. Krijn, one of the chattier and more entertaining players in the room, down and out.

Posada Keeps Owning

Level 5 : 300/600, 100 ante
Melissa Posada
Melissa Posada

Earlier today we wrote about a hand Melissa Posada played where she called with ace-high and was good. Just now, we got word of two more hands worth writing down.

Pim de Goede got up from the table and told us he got straight out owned by Posada, and continued to give us details of what had happend in "One of the most bizarre hands I have ever played."

Posada limped in from the hijack and the cutoff over limped. De Goede, winner of amongst others a big EPT side event in Madrid a couple years ago, limped from the button with {7-Spades}{4-Spades} and the big blind checked. The flop came {8-}{6-}{3-} with a single spade and the big blind checked. Posada bet 500 and her neighbor raised to 1,000. De Goede called, the big blind folded, Posada tossed in another 500 chip to call.

A {7-} appeared on the turn and Posada checked to her neighbor. The cutoff bet 1,000 and De Goede called, as did Posada.

The river came another {7-} and action checked to De Goede. The Dutchman bet 5,000, which was around 80% of the pot, and Posada instantly raised to 10,000. The cutoff folded and De Goede said something like "What a bad luck I have" while showing his trips before mucking. Posada showed her {J-}{3-} off suit and the entire table started laughing.

Not much later, the two of them would clash again. Again Posada limped, this time from the cutoff. The button raised and from the small blind De Goede called. The big blind called as well, as did Posada to make it 4-handed to the flop.

On {7-Spades}{8-Clubs}{K-Hearts} both De Goede and his neighbor checked. Posada lead out for 1,000 and the button raised to 2,800. De Goede called, the big blind folded, Posada called.

All three of them checked the {A-Diamonds} on the turn and the {3-Hearts} completed the board. De Goede bet out 10,000 and Posada called quickly. The button folded.

De Goede, now with his face a bit reddish, admitted to not have much of anything. Posada showed her {K-}{10-Hearts} and De Goede mucked.
