The Unibet Open Tour Returns to Malta

The Unibet Open poker tour first hit Malta back in 2010. Dutchman Mateusz Moolhuizen burst onto the scene with an epic victory, taking home €117,000 after besting a field of 293. Almost five years later Moolhuizen won Unibet Open Antwerp to become the second ever player to win a second Unibet Open event, and it all started with that victory in Malta.

The second edition of Unibet Open in Malta will be hosted at the brand new Olympic Casino, in the city centre of St. Julians. Registration will be open for the first 4 levels, and since it's a freeze out there's no way of players reentering.

PokerNews.com will be on site for coverage all day every day till the conclusion on Sunday.

Lecomte's Bluff Fails, Gets Hero Called

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

As we got to the table, the turn was already out and former Unibet Open cahmpion Quentin Lecomte had just bet 250 from the big blind. The board was {9-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and his opponent made the call from the button.

The {2-Spades} completed the board and Lecomte carefully cut out 550 and slid his bet forward. His opponent on the button made the call after just half a minute of thinking, and Lecomte showed his {J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. The button showed {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and soon enough received the pot.

De Vriess Off To a Good Start

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

On a flop of {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{3-Hearts} we witnessed Jerry de Vries check from the big blind. His opponent, John Forst, made a bet of 200 from the button. De Vries called, and check called another 600 on the {4-Clubs} turn.

The river came the {Q-Diamonds} and both players quickly checked. De Vries showed his {K-Spades}{6-Spades} for flopped trips, and Forst mucked instantly.

"They Never Believe Me!"

Anti Reinthal

Kristoff Van Der Stichel opened under the gun and action folded to Anti Reinthal in the small blind. Reinthal three bet to 1,100 and Van Der Stichel made the call.

"They never believe me!" Reinthal exclaimed, mentioning that they shouldn't attack his blinds, but still keep on doing it.

The flop came {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Reinthal bet 1,300. Van Der Stichel made the call and the {8-Hearts} hit the turn. Reinthal, still talkative as always, bet 2,000. Again Van Der Stichel called.

The {5-Spades} completed the board and Reinthal said "Well, if you hit a set, bad luck for me."

He bet 2,500 right after that, and Van Der Stichel was quick to call.

"I only have aces" Reinthal said while showing his {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}. Van Der Stichel mucked and Reinthal said "Oh, they are good!"

Van Brabander's Flush No Good

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

As we approached the table, the river was already dealt and a lot of chips were going to the middle. Van Brabander told us what had happened afterwards.

Van Brabander raised the hijack and big blind Dejan Vogrin made the call. He checked on {9-Spades}{Q-Spades}{3-Spades} and Van Brabander made a continuation bet. Vogrin check raised and Van Brabander made the call. Vogrin fired again on the {8-Diamonds} turn and Van Brabander called.

The {6-Diamonds} completed the board and Vogrin made a bet of 4,000. Van Brabrander raised to 16,000, telling us she made a mistake and only wanted to make it 12,000. Vogrin called and Van Brabander showed her {8-Spades}{4-Spades} for the flopped flush. Vogrin tabled {J-Spades}{6-Spades} for the higher flush and was pushed the pot.
