In one hour from now the remaining 88 players out of a 349-entry strong field in the 2018 Unibet Open London £990 Main Event will return to the tables of the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London, known to most poker enthusiasts simply as "The Vic" in the heart of the city, and aim to secure a portion of the £314,100 prize pool. Almost half of the remaining hopefuls will leave empty-handed, as just the top 47 spots are guaranteed at least £1,870 for their efforts, while the winner can look forward to a payday of £65,580.

Best-positioned for glory is Frenchman Jeremy Saderne with 302,000 followed by 2017 Unibet Open London 4th place finisher Francis Foord-Brown (292,500) and Day 1a chip leader Clement Tripodi (275,000). Bhavin Khatri, who finished 2nd and 5th respectively in this very event in the last two years sits in fourth place heading into Day 2 with 249,000 and aims for a third consecutive final table appearance.

Other big stacks and notables still in contention include 2017 Unibet Open Bucharest champion Marius Pertea (230,000), Laurent Polito (223,500), Gary Fisher (204,500), Nicolas Proust (184,500), Yngve Steen (170,500), Preben Stokkan (161,500), Nicolas Cardyn (140,000), two time Unibet Open champion Mateusz Moolhuizen (79,000), Sylvain Loosli (59,000) as well as £2,200 High Roller champion and 2015 Unibet Open Cannes winner Julien Sitbon (31,000). Unibet Poker will be represented by ambassador Espen Uhlen Jorstad (144,500) and eSports Star Philip "syrinxx" Schoenebaum (79,500).

The action will recommence at noon local time with level 12 and blinds of 1,500/3,000 and a running ante of 500. A maximum of 11 levels in total are scheduled or reaching to the unofficial final table, whichever of the two comes first. As usual there will be a break every two levels and the live stream on the Unibet Poker Twitch stream will kick off with a delay of 30 minutes as of the third level of the day.

Stay tuned for more right here on PokerNews as we will provide all the action towards the money bubble and beyond on an exciting day of poker. The famous Unibet Open player's party will kick off as of 9.30 p.m. local time, too.

Julien Sitbon

Julien Sitbon shoved for 31,000 and Orestis Kanakopoulos called in the cutoff, having the Frenchman outchipped two to one.

Julien Sitbon: {A-Spades}{8-Spades}
Orestis Kanakopoulos: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

On the {J-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} Sitbon joked "it's gonna be tough to win this one," while Kanakopoulos was pointing to the board and a possible sweat. Moolhuizen Missing; Cardyn Busts Suuronen

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Mateusz Moolhuizen
Mateusz Moolhuizen

Mateusz Moolhuizen was also among the early casualties of the day and Monica Vaka confirmed that she had busted the two time Unibet Open Champion in a limped battle of the blinds.

According to Vaka, Moolhuizen limped in and check-called a bet of 3,000 on a {5-}{3-}{2-} flop and 7,000 on the {Q-} turn. The {J-} on the river saw Moolhuizen check-shove for 45,000 into a bet of 11,000 and Vaka called with {Q-}{9-} for top pair. Moolhuizen showed {9-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for bottom pair only.

While Vaka provided the details, another hand was going on and Jari Suuronen check-shoved a {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop for some 40,000 with the {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Nicolas Cardyn quickly called with the {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} in the big blind and the {8-Diamonds} turn and {6-Spades} river brought no upset.

Espen Uhlen Jorstad
Espen Uhlen Jorstad

At the end of the previous level Philip Schoenebaum disappeared and the eSports Star, known under his alias "syrinxx" lost his chips to table neighbor Honglin Jiang. The latter was kind enough to provide the details.

According to Jiang Schoenebaum four-bet small with a suited ace only for Jiang on the button to call with {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts} and flop the nut straight on {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. The runner runner miracle never happened for the German.

A few minutes into the new level, Espen Uhlen Jorstad raised to 40,000 with 6,000 behind and Gunnar Wedde called from the big blind. The last chips went in after a {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop and Jorstad showed {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, Wedde had {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}. The {9-Clubs} turn left Jorstad drawing dead and a blank river was a formality.
