Vanhanen and Elle Clash Again

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Jussi Vanhanen raised to 50,000 and Mads Elle called in the big blind. On a flop of {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} both players checked and Elle also checked the {4-Spades} turn, Vanhanen bet 80,000 and was called.

The {3-Hearts} fell on the river and Elle checked the third street in a row. Vanhanen bet 150,000 and Elle quickly called to see the Finn turn over {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. Elle had that beat with {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and jumped into the top spot.

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Nicolas Cardyn
Nicolas Cardyn

In the cutoff Tony Blanchandin raised to 25,000 and Nicolas Cardyn defended his big blind. On a flop of {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, Cardyn checked and subsequently check-raised from 20,000 to 56,000, leaving himself 120,000 behind. Blanchandin moved all in and Cardyn called it off.

Nicolas Cardyn: {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Tony Blanchandin: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

Cardyn seemed to have accepted his fate, but suddenly jumped into the lead with the {K-Diamonds} turn. The fortune lasted all but a few moments, as the {J-Clubs} river gave Blanchandin a set and Cardyn the exit in 19th place for £3,300.

Elle Jams Into Vanhanen

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Over on table five, Mads Elle raised from the cutoff and Jussi Vanhanen three-bet out of the small blind, Elle called. The flop fell {10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Vanhanen bet 105,000, Elle called.

After the {9-Clubs} turn, Vanhanen quickly bet 150,000 and Elle moved all in. That sent the Finn in the think tank, but he didn't ask for a count and rather sent his cards into the muck after one minute of consideration.

Elle Gets Some Chips Back

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

The action has somewhat slowed down on the outer tables.

Clement Tripodi and Jonathan Schuman headed to the {K-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop on which Schuman check-raised from 24,000 to 60,000. Tripodi called and the {5-Clubs} fell on the turn. Schuman checked and a bet of 42,000 did the trick for Tripodi to even out the stacks of both players.

One table over, Mads Elle defended his big blind and check-raised the {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop from 40,000 to 100,000. Jussi Vanhanen gave it some thought and elected to fold.

Stokkan bests Grodal in Battle of Norwegians

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Erlend Grodal
Erlend Grodal

Short stack Erlend Grodal pushed for around 110,000 out of the small blind on one of the outer tables and Preben Stokkan called out of the big blind.

Erlend Grodal: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Preben Stokkan: {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

The {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} was a sweat as Stokkan picked up an open-ended straight draw, and the {5-Hearts} turn indeed improved his hand. A split pot was still possible, but Grodal bricked off with the {9-Hearts} river to exit in 20th place £3,300. Grodal took it in good spirit, though and took a quick video selfie with Stokkan before collecting his payout.
