Nwaukoni Eliminated

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Tony Blanchandin doubled through Augustine Nwaukoni when the latter was caught with just a pair of nines against several over cards and Nwaukoni then ended up all in before the flop with three callers.

On the {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop, Tomas Martinsson was the only player to check-call a bet of 7,500 by Catherine Ivgi and the {10-Clubs} turn and {A-Hearts} river were checked. Martinsson flashed an eight, Ivgi had that beat with {A-Spades}{J-Spades} and Nwaukoni busted with the {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}.

Four More Down the Drain

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Toni Ojala sent his stack over to Thomas Wenner and Antony Wickert, who had previously lost most of his stack, got it in with {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} against the {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} of Jussi Vanhanen. The latter flopped a set on {7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} and dodged the straight draw on the {3-Spades} turn and {10-Clubs} river run out.

Further casualty include Dennis Lindmark and Nikolay Kostyrko.

Loosli Busts in Two Hands

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Sylvain Loosli
Sylvain Loosli

Krisztian Arvai became the second casualty of the day and Sylvain Loosli experienced the same fate after losing a flip against table neighbor Augustine Nwaukoni. Loosli opened to 7,000 and called the shove of his table neighbor for 43,500.

Augustine Nwaukoni: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Sylvain Loosli: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

The board of {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} gave Nwaukoni trips and Loosli had three big blinds remaining, busted shortly after.

Sitbon Busts in First Hand

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Julien Sitbon
Julien Sitbon

Julien Sitbon shoved for 31,000 and Orestis Kanakopoulos called in the cutoff, having the Frenchman outchipped two to one.

Julien Sitbon: {A-Spades}{8-Spades}
Orestis Kanakopoulos: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

On the {J-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} Sitbon joked "it's gonna be tough to win this one," while Kanakopoulos was pointing to the board and a possible sweat. It was all over on the {7-Hearts} turn to make the {10-Spades} river a formality and another player at the table joked "nice playing with you," Sitbon left the table with a grin on the face.

Bhavin Khatri aims for third final table in a row in London
Bhavin Khatri aims for third final table in a row in London

In one hour from now the remaining 88 players out of a 349-entry strong field in the 2018 Unibet Open London £990 Main Event will return to the tables of the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London, known to most poker enthusiasts simply as "The Vic" in the heart of the city, and aim to secure a portion of the £314,100 prize pool. Almost half of the remaining hopefuls will leave empty-handed, as just the top 47 spots are guaranteed at least £1,870 for their efforts, while the winner can look forward to a payday of £65,580.

Best-positioned for glory is Frenchman Jeremy Saderne with 302,000 followed by 2017 Unibet Open London 4th place finisher Francis Foord-Brown (292,500) and Day 1a chip leader Clement Tripodi (275,000). Bhavin Khatri, who finished 2nd and 5th respectively in this very event in the last two years sits in fourth place heading into Day 2 with 249,000 and aims for a third consecutive final table appearance.

Other big stacks and notables still in contention include 2017 Unibet Open Bucharest champion Marius Pertea (230,000), Laurent Polito (223,500), Gary Fisher (204,500), Nicolas Proust (184,500), Yngve Steen (170,500), Preben Stokkan (161,500), Nicolas Cardyn (140,000), two time Unibet Open champion Mateusz Moolhuizen (79,000), Sylvain Loosli (59,000) as well as £2,200 High Roller champion and 2015 Unibet Open Cannes winner Julien Sitbon (31,000). Unibet Poker will be represented by ambassador Espen Uhlen Jorstad (144,500) and eSports Star Philip "syrinxx" Schoenebaum (79,500).

The action will recommence at noon local time with level 12 and blinds of 1,500/3,000 and a running ante of 500. A maximum of 11 levels in total are scheduled or reaching to the unofficial final table, whichever of the two comes first. As usual there will be a break every two levels and the live stream on the Unibet Poker Twitch stream will kick off with a delay of 30 minutes as of the third level of the day.

Stay tuned for more right here on PokerNews as we will provide all the action towards the money bubble and beyond on an exciting day of poker. The famous Unibet Open player's party will kick off as of 9.30 p.m. local time, too.
