Who Will Win Unibet Open Paris Main Event?

Unibet Open Paris
Unibet Open Paris

From a field of 480, the return of the Unibet Open to Paris after a seven-year absence is nearing its conclusion, with just nine players set to return to Club Circus for the final day's play.

Leading the way is Omar Lakhdari who last night manoeuvred expertly through the closing stages, showing the kind of short-handed skills that has seen him accrue over $1.5m in lifetime earnings.

He will return to Day 3 with four million in chips and is the clear chip leader ahead of Day 1b chip leader Vladimir Nex (2,595,000) and Paris Edition chip leader Michel Leibgorin (2,245,000).

There are just two non-French players among the final nine, with Russian Alexey Dmitriev (720,000) and Italian Giuseppe Zarbo (305,000) coming into the day as the two shortest stacks.

Hakim Chniyat Eliminated in 9th Place (€8,550)

Hakim Chniyat
Hakim Chniyat

On the very first hand of the day, Omar Lakhdari opened to 115,000 and Hakim Chniyat three-bet all in for 880,000 from the big blind. Lakhdari called.

Omar Lakhdari: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Hakim Chniyat: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}

The flop {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{q-Clubs} was safe for Chniyat, but the {k-Spades} gave Lakhdari the lead. Chniyat needed a seven to save him, but both sevens had been folded pre-flop so CHniyat was drawing dead as the {10-Clubs} came on the river and Chniyat was eliminated.

Vladimir Nex {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} shoved from the small blind for 3,830,000 and Malik Corbin {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs} called all in for his last 1,090,000.

The {2-Spades}{7-Hearts}{10-Hearts} flop didn't help Corbin who needed to hit his pair or running straight cards to stay alive. The turn {7-Diamonds} didn't help him either, but the {9-Spades} river
