Barokhel Scoops Massive Pot Amid Controversy
There was some commotion on Table #4 during a three-way all-in between Parham Ahoor, Abdelmalik Farahi, and Jean-Pierre Barokhel.
With around 6,000 already in the middle on a A♠4♣9♣ flop, Ahoor led out for 2,200 from the big blind. Farahi raised to 11,500 from middle position, which prompted action from Barokhel on the button. Barokhel tossed in calling chips but announced raise before quickly backtracking, insisting he only wanted to call. The dealer ruled the action as a minimum raise, forcing the bet up.
That ruling set off fireworks. Ahoor shoved for his last 60,000, Farahi called off his 40,000, and Barokhel quickly came along to cover them both.
Abdelmalik Farahi: 5♣2♣
Parham Ahoor: A♦Q♠
Jean-Pierre Barokhel: 9♦9♥
Barokhel was ahead with his set of nines, and Ahoor made it clear that Barokhel had angled him and Farahi.
Barokhel was ahead with middle set, while Ahoor openly accused him of angle-shooting in the spot. The 10♣ turn briefly gave Farahi hope with a flush, but the 10♠ river improved Barokhel to a full house. He scooped the monster pot and catapulted his stack to over 175,000 in Level 2.
