Walpole Bags Up Mammoth Chip Lead in Day 1c
Casino de Marrakech in the heart of Morocco now has just a single Day 1 flight remaining for the biggest event of its current series.
Day 1c of the Unibet Open Main Event is officially done and dusted, with the 370 entries into the flight whittled down to just 121, who will be joining the 80 qualifiers across Days 1a and 1b for Day 2.
Leading the flight, and the pack at current is than Ludovic Walpole, who placed a massive 498,500 into the bag at the conclusion of Level 10, which is good for almost ten full starting stacks. The 428,000 of Fermin Lopez was good enough for second place, and Rui Bouquet rounds out the podium with 380,000.
End of Day 1c Top Ten Chip Counts
| Rank | Player | Country | Chip Count | Big Blinds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ludovic Walpole | France | 498,500 | 249 |
| 2 | Fermin Lopez | Spain | 428,000 | 214 |
| 3 | Rui Bouquet | Portugal | 380,000 | 190 |
| 4 | Mickael Delcambre | France | 377,000 | 189 |
| 5 | Yves Maison | France | 375,000 | 188 |
| 6 | Adrian Lipe | Spain | 368,000 | 184 |
| 7 | Dopamine | Morocco | 350,500 | 175 |
| 8 | Paul Leckey | Ireland | 344,000 | 172 |
| 9 | Guillaume Molinod | France | 338,000 | 169 |
| 10 | Angela Rogan | Ireland | 323,000 | 162 |
Also in and around the top of the leaderboard are Adrian Lipe (368,000), Paul Leckey (344,000), and his compatriot Angela Rogan, who will all be looking to put their above-average stacks to good use throughout the rest of the competition. Others that bagged up include WSOP Bracelet winner Antonin Teisseire, Rui Bouquet, and Jean-Michel Vella, who scored a huge double late on after rivering quads.
Not all were so fortuitous, however, with big names trying and failing to battle their way through the day in its entirety. Michel Leibgorin, Lucien Cohen, and Enrico Mosca all followed the same pattern: that of entering, and busting.
All hope is not lost for them, however, as when Day 2 starts at 1:00 p.m. on October 2, late registration is open for another three levels, until the end of Level 13.
Not only does that mean that there is one last chance for any player with no chips to their name, but the 6,534,000 MAD prize pool that has been created will only grow larger, thanks to entrants in both the ongoing Day 1d, and Day 2.
Play resumes with blinds at 1,000/2,000/2,000, and Day 2 will follow a very similar structure as Days 1a and 1c: levels will remain at 60 minutes apiece, but 11 will be played rather than ten.
