Joost Van Waasdijk bagged the largest stack on Day 1d of the CNP Winamax Main Event, the biggest starting flight held so far at Casino Admiral Sevilla. The Dutchman ended the night with 426,000 chips, good for 213 big blinds heading into tomorrow's play.
Van Waasdijk seized the chip lead in the final level of the night after eliminating then tournament leader Joaquín Lafoz, who elected to call off a four-bet shove with king-queen suited. Van Waasdijk tabled pocket aces, which held, allowing him to stack up towering columns of blue chips.
Close behind is Alberto Delgado, who enjoyed a strong late night surge combined with relentless pressure, finishing the day with 420,000 chips. There is then a noticeable gap to the rest of the field, as Manuel Antonio Delgado Cordero sits in third place with 355,000 chips. From that point on, the stacks tighten considerably among the remaining players rounding out the top ten.

A number of Winamax WIPs, invited ambassadors for the occasion, were also in action today. Results were mixed, however, as only chess Grandmaster Miguel Illescas (21,000) content creator Guanyar (195000) and MMA fighter Eduardo Riego (217,000) managed to bag chips. Rapper Al Safir, fighter Ander Sánchez, magician Alberto Montalvo, and content creator Spursito, as well as professional Magic player Javier Domínguez, were all eliminated.
Day 2 will resume tomorrow at 5 p.m., with the 120 players who advanced from today’s flight already guaranteed a seat. They will be joined by the 19 survivors from Day 1a and the 104 from Day 1bc. Final numbers, however, will not be confirmed until the completion of the turbo Day 1e, which kicks off tomorrow at 11 a.m.
All signs point to this €550 CNP Winamax Main Event in Seville surpassing last year's figures. In 2025, a total of 919 entries were recorded at Casino Admiral. This year's edition has already reached 640 entries, with registration remaining open through the first two levels of Day 2.
Don't miss any of the action this Saturday in Seville, as PokerNews will be providing live updates throughout the Main Event.
In addition, live stream coverage will get underway at around 8 p.m. local time on Circuito Nacional de Poker official Twitch and YouTube channels.
