Champlin Gets Value With Boat; Nearing 150K

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Spencer Champlin
Spencer Champlin

There was 8,500 in the pot on a board of {7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} in a heads-up pot between Spencer Champlin in the cutoff and his opponent, who was under the gun. The under-the-gun player checked to Champlin and he put out a bet of 4,000. His opponent called.

The river came {k-Hearts} and Champlin again saw his opponent check to him. He fired out another 16,000 and his opponent thought for a bit before tossing out chips to call.

Champlin tabled {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} for a full house, sevens full, and his opponent mucked, resulting in Champlin taking down the pot and bringing his stack to just shy of the 150,000-chip mark.

Tobin Nearing 100K

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

A player raised to 3,000 from under the gun and was called by another player in middle position. Action folded around to Dave Tobin, who defended his big blind.

All three players checked the flop {2-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, bringing the turn {9-Spades}. Tobin bet 3,000 and received calls from both players behind him. The river came {3-Diamonds} and action checked around to showdown.

Tobin tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and both remaining players mucked, resulting in the pot being sent his way. With the pot, he now has a stack that is closing in on 100,000 in chips.

"I'm on a heater, baby!" Kelly Minkin said as she tossed 3,000 into the pot from under the gun. Only the hijack made the call.

Both players checked the {3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop, and the {j-Clubs} hit the turn. Minkin bet 3,000 and her opponent instantly folded. Minkin, who has steadily been at or near the top of the counts throughout today's Day 1a flight, continues her ascent.

Ladies Kind To Barrett

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The small blind and big blind each had 3,500 in front of them and Max Barrett was all in from middle position for 19,400. Action was back on the small blind and he folded. The big blind then went into the tank, eventually having the 3,500 pulled that both players had committed. After seeing it was 15,900 more to call, he threw in chips to do so.

Max Barrett: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

"Whoa!" said the big blind as he saw Barrett's hand.

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} to secure the double for Barrett.

"Nice hand!" said the big blind. "Damn, I didn't know it was that strong!" he added.

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

A player raised to 2,400 from middle position, and the player next to act three-bet shoved for 9,000. Butch Worley called in the big blind, and the middle position player folded.

"That ain't good," remarked the all-in player.

Opponent: {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Butch Worley: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

"You got me dominated," Worley's opponent said, and a {2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} board left Worley in front for the knockout.

"Ace-Seven Good!"

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The board read {7-Hearts}{2-Spades}{a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} with around 22,000 in the pot and a player in early position had checked to Caibin Ai, who threw out a bet of 8,000 from the cutoff. His opponent thought for about 15 seconds before calling.

Ai tabled {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and his opponent mucked, flashing {a-Clubs} in the process.

"Yep!" said Ai. "Ace-seven good! Ace-seven good!" he said to himself as he stacked his newly-earned chips.

Ai Felts Berry

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

After a raise from Caibin Ai in the cutoff, Will Berry three-bet shoved for 10,200 on the button, and Ai made the call.

Will Berry: {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Caibin Ai: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}

Ai paired his kicker on the {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop, but Berry found a flush draw on the {8-Diamonds} turn to keep some hope of earning a double. The {2-Clubs} river failed to give Berry a flush, and Ai said, "Five good!" as he eliminated a dangerous opponent.
