Kinney Hits Outs To Double

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Craig Kinney opened to 4,500 in the cutoff and the player on the button called. Both blinds folded and the two went heads up to the flop {4-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. Kinney checked. His opponent put out a bet of 5,500 and Kinney thought for about 10 seconds before announcing he was all in. It took him about 10 seconds himself to get his stack out, and a count was requested immediately upon it being pushed forward. The number was totaled to be 60,800.

"If you had a big hand, you'd be trappin' me, huh?" the player on the button said as he thought about it. He then listed several suited ace- combinations of diamonds he thought Kinney could have and proceeded to slam a stack of chips forward to make the call.

Craig Kinney: {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Opponent: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}

The player on the button found himself calling with what was the best hand at the time, though Kinney's 12 outs made odds nearly even for each player to win at showdown. The turn {5-Diamonds} sealed the deal, giving Kinney the nut flush before the river {8-Diamonds} came to complete the runout, giving Kinney an even higher flush en route to earning a double.

More For Merrett

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Rickie Merrett
Rickie Merrett

Will Berry raised to 4,000 from under the gun, and a player in middle position three-bet to 10,000. Rickie Merritt four-bet to 25,000, and after Berry folded, the middle position player five-bet shoved for 55,000 and Merritt quickly called.

Opponent: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Rickie Merritt: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

"Ace or a king!" Merritt said before the flop.

Instead of finding a pair, Merritt held Broadway by the turn of a {q-Spades}{7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} runout. Merritt's opponent had just one out to survive with a straight flush draw, but he bricked off on the {10-Spades} river to bust.

Bond Doubles With Straight

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

There was around 17,000 in the pot on a board of {9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Matt Bond checked from the hijack to his opponent, who was on the button. His opponent bet 5,000 and he check-raised to 18,000. Immediately, he was met with an all-in shove for his effective remaining 50,000 or so. He immediately called.

Matt Bond: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Bond found his flopped straight up against nothing more than top pair, already having his opponent drawing dead as the river came {4-Diamonds} and he had his entire stack counted out to 67,400 to be paid for the full double.

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

After a raise from the under-the-gun player, Ting-Ping Twu three-bet to 16,200, and the under-the-gun player four-bet shoved for 35,000. Pwu called.

Opponent: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Ting-Ping Twu: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Twu's jacks held up on a {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts} board to earn the knockout.

Merritt Finds a River Miracle

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

There was over 50,000 in the pot on a board of {2-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{j-Diamonds} and Rickie Merritt had checked in the small blind to his opponent, who was on the button and had gone all in. Merritt thought for a bit and pushed a few stacks of yellow T1,000-chips forward to call.

Rickie Merritt: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}

"Trip jacks versus two pair, kings and jacks," said the dealer, burning and turning the river {k-Spades}.

The statement was amended: "Full house, kings full of jacks," as he began counting out the stacks. The all-in player ended up having around 50,000 and Merritt had about 56,000 behind, resulting in Merritt hitting a miracle king on the river to secure the knockout and nearly-full double along the way.

Sowell Earns a Triple

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Jeff Sowell had his last 10,700 at risk on the button, and Eric Kelly had called in middle position. A player in the hijack then shoved over the top for 91,600, and Kelly tanked for two minutes before folding.

Jeff Sowell: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Opponent: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Sowell missed the {6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop, but celebrated when the {k-Spades} hit the turn, and he earned the triple after the {7-Hearts} hit the river.

Hesser Hits a Flush; Two Players Closing At Or Near 250K

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

William Hesser raised to 4,600 from early position and the cutoff three-bet to 15,000. Action folded back to Hesser and he defended. The flop came {q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{q-Spades} and both players checked.

The turn was {8-Clubs} and Hesser checked to the cutoff, who bet another 15,000. Hesser called.

The river fell {9-Clubs} and Hesser checked once more. The cutoff checked behind.

Both players tabled their hands simultaneously. Hesser showed {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a rivered flush and his opponent tabled {j-}{j-}, quickly turning it over after seeing Hesser's flush.

"Didn't think you'd check the flush," said his opponent as the pot was sent his way.

Meanwhile, James Mordue has recently been seen at an adjacent table boasting a stack of 250,000 as well, putting the two players at or near the top of the chip counts as the tournament moves into the later levels of the evening.

Bader Loses a Tiny Main Pot, Wins a Monster Side Pot

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Three players were all in before the flop, with a player in middle position in for his last 8,200, Brett Bader in for 79,200 from the small blind, and the big blind had both players covered, although he only had Bader covered by 1,000 in chips.

Middle Position: {a-}{10-}
Brett Bader: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Big Blind: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

The middle position player found an ace on the {7-Clubs}{a-Spades}{9-Spades} flop, but Bader held for the huge side pot after a {2-Hearts} turn and a {2-Diamonds} river, sending him a six-figure stack, while the middle position player scooped in the small triple up.
