Merritt Wins On Turn

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Thomas Johnston limped in from middle position and saw three limps behind him from Ben Keeline in the hijack, Rickie Merritt in the cutoff, and Frank Kirkpatrick on the button. The small blind then completed and the big blind checked his option, taking action to the streets six ways.

The flop came {j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and action checked to Keeline, who put out a bet of 2,500. Merritt called directly on his left and all four remaining players folded.

The turn fell {7-Diamonds} and Keeline checked. Merritt threw out a bet of 4,000 and Keeline thought for about 10 seconds and checked his cards. He then lifted his cards up, reached to the middle of the table, and fanned his two cards face-down onto the felt to muck them, resulting in Merritt taking down the pot.

Wang Eliminated

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Michael Wang
Michael Wang

Michael Wang was recently eliminated from the tournament after losing two straight all-ins. During the first, he doubled up a short stack with queen-ten suited after he was unable to beat the other player's ace-king.

He then found himself down to about 3,500 and got it in from middle position versus the small blind.

Michael Wang: {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Opponent: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}

Wang found himself starting on the short end of the "coin flip" and he stayed there, unable to improve as the board ran out {j-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Spades}{q-Clubs}{7-Spades} to eliminate him from the tournament.

Kirkpatrick Finds Value With Aces

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Frank Kirkpatrick opened to 2,400 in the hijack and action folded around to the big blind, who defended. The flop fell {5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and the big blind checked. Kirkpatrick fired a continuation-bet of 3,000 into the middle and the big blind called, hanging around for the turn {7-Clubs}.

The big blind checked again, putting action on Kirkpatrick. He checked behind and the river came {10-Spades}. The big blind checked once more and Kirkpatrick threw out a 9,300-chip bet. The big blind took about 10 seconds to think before tossing out two orange T5,000 chips to call.

Kirkpatrick tabled {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and his opponent mucked upon seeing the hand, unable to beat Kirkpatrick's pair of aces as he raked in another pot in consecutive fashion.

Dalka's Kings Get Cracked

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Matt Dalka
Matt Dalka

A player raised to 2,000 from under the gun, and Matt Dalka three-bet to 4,500 from middle position. Dalka's opponent called.

The under-the-gun player bet 5,000 after the {2-Hearts}{3-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop fell, and Dalka placed a stack of 5k chips in the pot and said, "All in."

"All in? All right," the under-the-gun player said before pushing his last 17,500 in the pot.

Opponent: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Matt Dalka: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Dalka's kings looked primed for a double, but the {7-Hearts} turn added a flush draw to his opponent's outs, and the {q-Spades} gave the under-the-gun player trip queens and the winner.

Kirkpatrick Wins With Third Pair

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

There was a little over 8,000 in the pot on a board of {9-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts} with three-way action between Will Berry in the big blind, a player in the cutoff, and Frank Kirkpatrick, who was on the button. Berry checked to the cutoff, who bet 6,000. Kirkpatrick then put in a raise to 14,000, which got a fold from Berry and a call from the cutoff.

The river came {4-Hearts} and action checked through to showdown.

The cutoff showed {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for ace high and Kirkpatrick tabled {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, good to earn the pot with a pair of sevens.

Dong Goes Runner-Runner to Take the Chip Lead

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

A player at Zelong Dong's table pointed out his now-massive stack, and shared the details of how he managed to accumulate such a stack in a hurry.

Three players invested 9,000 each preflop to see a {k-}{6-}{5-} flop fall. A player in middle position ripped his last 40,000 in the middle, Dong called, and the other opponent in the hand folded.

Opponent: {6-}{6-}
Zelong Dong: {8-}{8-}

Dong was behind the set of sixes of his opponent, but Dong picked up an open-ender on the {7-} turn. Sure enough, the {4-} on the river made Dong a straight and eliminated his opponent.

"That's why we play the game," tablemate Matt Dalka said, while Dong just smiled upon hearing the recollection his lucky KO.

Marocha Wins on Turn

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

There was over 30,000 in the pot on the turn with a board reading {8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Vishal Marocha was all in from the hijack.

His opponent had checked to him from early position and found himself with a decision to make. He asked for confirmation of the 18,900 that was cut out in front of Marocha and proceeded to muck his hand upon receiving it, resulting in the pot being sent Marocha's way.
