Last year's 2018 WinStar Labor Day Poker Series $2,500 Main Event champ William Pengelly was recently spotted building a stack of six figures up, hoping to replicate his success from last year.

In last year's event, Pengelly topped a field of 807 entries and earned a $249,310 payday after a five-way chop, and the now twenty-one year old already has a cash in this year's series, finishing in 30th in Event #1: $500 No Limit Hold'em for $1,801. Can he make it back-to-back and go the distance here again in this year's $1,500 Main Event? We'll be keeping an eye out for him as we cross the halfway point in today's Day 1b.

A player in early position opened to 2,700 and saw Nathan Gamble three-bet to 9,100 from middle position. Action folded back to the early-position player and he assessed Gamble's stack before letting his cards to.

For the past week, WinStar has been playing host to a series of side event as a part of the 2019 Labor Day River Series. While PokerNews is only offering live updates from the Main Event, we still wanted to give some love to the lucky WinStar winners.

One such event was Event #5: $300 No-Limit Hold’em, a tournament that drew 160 runners.

The top 16 players made the money and among those to cash but fall short of making the final table were Alem Girma (12th - $864), Hanh Duong-Williams (13th - $864), Robert Greathouse (14th - $648), Charles Murray (15th - $648), and Mark Estes (16th - $648).

A deal was worked at the final table that ultimately saw Brian Lee named champ to the tune of $6,875.

Bracken Backs Into the Nuts

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

A player raised to 2,800 in early position and action folded around to Andrea Bracken, who was on the button and called. The flop came {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs} and both players checked.

Bracken saw her opponent check again on the turn {7-Diamonds} and she bet 3,300. Her opponent called. The river fell {q-Diamonds} and Bracken was checked to once more. She fired out another 5,000 and her opponent quickly called.

Bracke tabled {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, showing the table that she had hit the nuts on the river. Her opponent mucked and the dealer sent her the pot, bringing her stack north of six figures as the tournament closes in on the upcoming 45-minute dinner break.
