Elwood Gifted a Knockout

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Todd Elwood opened to 2,100 from early position and saw the hijack go all in. Action folded back to him and he asked for a count, which was totaled to be 25,200. He called shortly thereafter.

Todd Elwood: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
All-In Player: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, resulting in no sweat for Elwood as his queens improved to a flush and he secured the knockout, getting a full stack as compensation for the best hand.

Offutt Makes a Great Call

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Katherine Offutt raised to 1,800 from middle position, and was called by the hijack, as well as the button.

Action checked to the button on an {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}{k-Clubs} flop, and he bet 3,000. Only Offutt called.

Offutt checked the {8-Spades} turn, and the button fired 5,000. Offutt called again.

The {6-Hearts} completed the board on the river, and Offutt checked for a third time. The button bet 11,000, and Offutt, who had just 20,000 remaining in her stack, gathered up eleven 1k chips and slowly slid them in the pot.

The button tossed his {j-Spades}{9-Spades} for a busted flush draw up on the felt, and while Offutt had also missed a flush draw, her {k-Spades}{5-Spades} for a pair of kings was good for the pot.

Belote Gets in a Check-Raise

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Three players built up a pot of 4,000 and saw a {7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{j-Clubs} flop together. Pamela Belote checked from the small blind, as did the under-the-gun player, and the hijack bet 1,800. Belote called and the under-the-gun player folded.

Belote checked again on the {2-Spades} turn, and the hijack bet 4,000. Belote check-raised to 9,000, and her opponent took just a moment before releasing his hand.

Donaghy Flushes Out Opponent

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

The big blind had thrown out a bet of 6,500 into a pot of around 8,500 into two opponents on a board of {5-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. Shawn Donaghy called out of middle position to put action back onto the small blind, who had already checked to start the action. He folded, taking action heads up to the river {4-Hearts}.

The big blind checked to put action on Donaghy. He turned up his cards, signifying the end of the hand as he showed {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a flush. His opponent mucked and he took down the pot.

Michael Monaghan
Michael Monaghan

Michael Monaghan raised to 1,000 from middle position, and was called by the player next to act, as well as the cutoff and the small blind.

The small blind checked a {6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop over to Monaghan, who bet 2,200. Only the cutoff called.

Monaghan announced a bet of 3,000 after the {q-Hearts} hit the turn, and the cutoff thought for a few moments before pushing his hand to the muck.

Minkin Takes Advantage of Board Filling Up

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

There was around 2,600 in the pot from preflop action as the dealer fanned a flop of {5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. Kelly Minkin was in the big blind and bet 1,800, getting a call from her opponent in early position. The turn came {k-Hearts} and action checked through.

The river fell {6-Diamonds} and Minkin threw out a bet of 6,100. Her opponent thought for a bit, assessing the situation as the river had brought four to a straight. He called.

Unfortunately for him, the river had also brought three to a flush. Minkin tabled {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for the queen-high flush and her opponent mucked, resulting in her getting around a pot-sized bet of value after improving on the river.

For the past week, WinStar has been playing host to a series of side event as a part of the 2019 Labor Day River Series. While PokerNews is only offering live updates from the Main Event, we still wanted to give some love to the lucky WinStar winners.

One such event was Event #3: $500 Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO), a tournament that drew 122 players.

That meant the top 13 players got paid, and of those the top 11 struck a deal that saw them all lock up at least $4,741 while Kyle Monaco was crowned champ for $5,291.

Missing out on the deal but cashing the tournament were Shane Howeth and Ngoc “Long” Nguyen, who each won $1,098 for finishing in 12th and 13th place respectively.

Keller Overbet Jams

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Cynthia Keller raised to 1,500 from under the gun, and a middle position player announced, "Raise," and flicked a 5k chip in the pot. Action folded back to Keller, who called.

The {6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop was barely on the felt when Keller moved her remaining 15,900 chips into the pot. The middle position player went into the tank for a minute, cracking his knuckles as he studied the board, before deciding on a fold.
