Bala Raises the River

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

A player checked a {10-Spades}{q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} board from under the gun, and [Removed:341] bet 8,500 into a pot of around 12,000 from the cutoff. THe under the gun player tanked for a minute before calling.

The {a-Spades} river saw the under-the-gun player lead out for 7,000, and it was Bala's turn to enter the tank. He put on some sunglasses about halfway through his tank, before making a raise to 24,000. The under-the-gun player didn't take long to release his hand, and Bala took down the pot.

Bailey Fades It All

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Billy Bailey had just check-raised all in from the big blind versus his opponent in the cutoff, who found a call. The board read {4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

Billy Bailey: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

According to Bailey, the two were heads up on the flop and Bailey checked to his opponent, who bet 9,000. Bailey went all in for 31,700 and his opponent called for a bit less.

He now found himself needing to fade the 15 outs in the deck twice to avoid being on fumes. The turn came {j-Hearts}, leaving one card left in the runout. The river fell {4-Clubs}, ensuring the hold as his opponent got up from his seat and wished the table good luck.

Rust Rivers Lynch

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Mstr Lynch
Mstr Lynch

On a {5-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop, Brandon Rust checked from the big blind, and Mstr Lynch bet 2,100 from the cutoff. Rust called.

Rust checked again on the {2-Diamonds} turn, and Lynch bet 6,500. Rust called again.

Both players checked the {j-Spades} river, and Lynch turned over {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a pair of fives. Rust showed his {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for the nut flush draw that found a pair of jacks on the river, and he took down the pot.

A Round of Chip Counts

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Level: 7

Blinds: 400/800

Ante: 800

Take 15

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

The tournament clock reads 470 entries and 297 players remaining upon the arrival of the second 15-minute break of the day.

In total, 1,175 entries have been tallied across the three starting flights, with late registration remaining open for approximately three more hours.

Lett Improves To Double

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

There was over 10,000 in the pot on a board of {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and Laura Lett had a bet of 5,000 in front of her from the cutoff. Her opponent was in the big blind and check-raised to 15,000. She thought for a bit, smiling with a bit of uncertainty over her situation. Eventually, she decided to go with her hand, shoving for a total of 16,800. Her opponent called the last 1,800 and their hands were tabled.

Laura Lett: {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Big Blind: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Lett had found herself with eight outs to the nuts and was in need of hitting one to stay alive against her opponent's set of queens. The turn came {a-Hearts} to give her the nuts, leaving her needing to fade the board pairing on the river to double. She would do just that as the river came {6-Diamonds} and the pot was sent her way as a result.

Bui Coolers Defending Champ Pengelly

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Three players found their stacks in preflop, and it was a classic cooler in progress.

Hijack: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Will Pengelly: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Tiep Bui: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Bui hit the case ace on the {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop, and the cruel {k-Clubs} turn gave Pengelly a worthless two pair and the hijack a dead set. The {4-Clubs} river secured the big pot for Bui. The hijack was eliminated, and Pengelly had 300 in chips remaining, but last year's WinStar Labor Day River Poker Series $2,500 Main Event champ sacrificed those chips to head to the cage to re-enter, instead.

Donaghy Check-Raises River After Filling Up

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Shawn Donaghy opened to 1,900 in early position and received a call from Justin Twu, who was in the cutoff.

The flop came {j-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Donaghy fired a continuation-bet of 3,500. Twu called. The turn was {j-Hearts} and Donaghy continued with another 3,500 going into the pot. Twu called again.

The river came {k-Diamonds} and Donaghy checked. Twu put out a bet of 6,000, sending Donaghy into the tank for about 20 seconds. He then announced a check-raise to 21,000.

Twu asked for the 6,000 from each player to be raked in, seeing that he had 15,000 more to call. He eventually threw out three orange T5,000 chips to complete the action.

Donaghy tabled {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} for a full house, kings full of jacks. The entire table reacted and Twu mucked in disbelief, resulting in the pot being sent Donaghy's way.

Chip and a Chair Story in the Making?

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Players at Table 54 alerted us to a short stack run-up story in progress, as Aaron Dilley commands a stack of 45,000, one that is 90 times the size it was during Level 4 (100/300/300), when he was crippled down to just a lone purple 500 chip.

Dilley's fortunes since then have taken a massive turn for the better, and he enjoys an above average stack just two levels later. Players at the table jokingly called him the "hot pretzel" guy, as he was eating one at the time of his chip deficit, and Dilley just smiled and said, "I would take another one."
