Day 1a of the No Limit Quantam Begins Now

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

The World Cup of Cards is underway. Day 1a of Event #1: $170 NL Hold’em Quantum $200,000 guarantee has kicked off the month-long festival. When Playground Poker Club tournament director Martin Roy announced “shuffle up and deal” there were 83 entries registered.

Daniel Trottier Off To a Quick Start

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

The board read {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and Daniel Trottier made it 2,500 to go on the button. Kim Degraaf called and the {10-Spades} came on the river.

Degraaf checked and Trottier bet 1,000. Degraaf called. The river paired the board with the {q-Hearts} and Degraaf checked again. Trottier wasted no time and went all in for roughly 9,000. He had Degraaf covered.

Degraaf thought for a moment, debating out loud what his next move should be. He settled on folding {8-}{6-} face up, showing a counterfeited two pair. Trottier raked in the pot while Degraaf asked how many queens he had.

Brent McCue Pushed Large Pot

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

As we approached the table, the dealer was pushing a massive mound of chips towards Brent McCue. The cards had been gathered in the muck but one of his opponents was leaving the table and another was shaking his head with very few chips in front of him.

McCue now up around 27,000.

Francois Boudreau Wins With River Bet, Kim Degraaf Out

Level 3 : 75/150, 25 ante

Kim Degraaf, who lost a big chunk of his stack to Daniel Trottier in level 2 has been eliminated.

Meanwhile, his former table mates are still looking for the CAD $400 payday that comes with making Day 2.

On this hand, Francois Boudreau limped and Andrew Molotchko called before Jean Francois Betournay made it 800 to go. Both Boudreau and Molotchko called.

The flop came {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and the action checked to Betournay. He bet 1,250 and only Boudreau called.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and both players checked. The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Boudreau led for 2,500. Betournay seemed dismayed and folded, tossing the {a-Hearts} face up on the table.
