Armen Afarian Doubles Through Jeffrey Cormier

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Jeffrey Cormier has lost about 30,000 since jumping out to the chip lead earlier in Day 1b. On this hand he gets all in against Armen Afarian with the board reading {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{8-Spades}.

Afarian went all in for roughly 12,000 and Cormier called. Afarian showed a set of sevens with {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and Cormier mucked his hand. However, the dealer hadn't turned over the river yet, so Cormier's hand was turned over revealing {q-}{9-}. Cormier was drawing dead.

The river was another nine, the {9-Hearts}, which gave Afarian the pot with a full house. Afarain would double up and Cormier is back under 50,000.

MacDonald Busts Hislop

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

A short-stacked Edward Hislop moved all-in preflop and Kevin MacDonald snap-called putting Hislop's tournament life on the line.

Hislop: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
MacDonald: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The dealer rolled a {q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop giving MacDonald a set of queens. Hislop was in rough shape and found no help from the turn and river — {3-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

Peruzza Doubles Through Mellor

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Giuseppe Peruzza moved all-in for 3,525 on a {q-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{10-Hearts} board with around 5,000 chips in the middle. Michael Mellor made the call putting Peruzza at risk.

Peruzza: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Mellor: {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Peruzza was able to fade the turn and river and doubled up to over 11,000.

Set Over Set

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

A gasp was heard across the room as multiple players stood up from the table and Patrick Braga began to walk away. The dealer called him back having cut down his stack to push across the table to Joshua Frazer James.

The board was {5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and on their backs were the {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} of James and Braga's {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. James' set of aces were best and scored the double up.

Cormier Calls Correct on the River

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Jeffrey Cormier has the biggest stack currently in level 6 of Day 1b.

He was in the small blind when Edward Hislop limped under the gun. Jean Francois Bouchard raised to 900. Cormier and Kevin MacDonald called from the blinds.

The flop was {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and the action checked to Bouchard, who bet 1,000. Cormier and MacDonald both called and Hislop folded.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} and all three players checked. The river was the {7-Hearts} and Cormier checked. MacDonald bet 4,300 and Bouchard folded. Cormier weighed his option's and eventually called with {a-}{10-} for second pair. He was good against only the king high of MacDonald.
