First Break, Sawers and Vijayaratnam Battle For Chip Lead

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The players are on a 15-minute break. This is the first break of the day and 32 players remain of the 44 that started Day 2.

Kathy Sawers jumped out to the chip lead over taking Senthuran Vijayaratnam when she eliminated Richard Paradis. Sawers flopped a set of aces, and Paradis shoved all in with {a-}{j-}. He didn't improve and Sawers took the lead.

Vijayaratnam dropped a little bit early, but when he eliminated Gary Lucci, he overtook Sawers again and is sitting at 850,000.

[Removed:528] Eliminated in 38th Place ($1,500)

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

[Removed:528] had Mark Sloane all-in and at risk preflop blind versus blind.

[Removed:529]: {a-Spades}{7-Spades}
Sloane: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and Sloane scored the double up.

The very next hand [Removed:529] shoved all-in and Sloane made the call. We didn't catch the action but Sloane won the hand and sent [Removed:529] to the rail.

Updated Counts, Gary Lucci Eliminated

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Stephane Houle Flops the Nuts and Loses

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Stephane Houle
Stephane Houle

Stephane Houle just flopped the nuts and lost. On the next hand, he got all in for his tournament life and was behind, but managed to win the pot and double up.

Hand #1:
Houle was one of four players that saw the {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop. He checked and then Gary Lucci bet 25,000. Houle shoved all in for 170,000 and Lucci called. Lucci was at risk and behind with {10-}{10-} for a set of tens. Houle had flopped a straight with {k-}{q-}.

The turn was the {5-Clubs} and the river was the {5-Diamonds}, giving Lucci a full house and earning him the double up.

Hand #2:
Houle was on the button for the next hand and shoved all in for 34,000. Jeffrey Cormier was the big blind and he asked for a count. He called and showed {q-}{j-}, which was ahead of Houle's {q-}{7-}.

The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, giving Houle the double up and keeping him in the tournament.

Richard Paradis Eliminated in 41st place ($1,500)

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Kathy Sawers
Kathy Sawers

A big pot between Richard Paradis and Kathy Sawers was brewing when Paradis moved all-in on a flop of {8-Spades}{a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Sawers snap-called putting Paradis at risk.

Sawers: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Paradis: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

Sawers had flopped a set of aces and had paradis drawing very slim. Sawers faded the turn and river — {5-Clubs}{8-Hearts} to vault up the leaderboard.

Mark Sloane Eliminates Noeung Troeung in 42nd Place

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Sebastien Proulx opened under the gun to 10,000. Noeung Troeung three-bet all in for 53,000. Mark Sloane was in the big blind and shoved over the top for 97,000.

Proulx took a moment and eventually folded what he said was a pocket pair. The two players turned over their hands and Sloane was in the lead. Sloane's {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} was just better than the {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} of Troeung.

The board ran out {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, giving Sloane a flush and sending Troeung home early in Day 2.
