Talk of the Town

While Phil Ivey may not be in Melbourne, Australia, this time around — the place he won his ninth World Series of Poker gold bracelet last year — his name is certainly being thrown around a lot, as many of the players are discussing his court case with Crockfords.

The consensus among the players is that Ivey did no wrong in the incident, and many believe that he should win. Whether or not he will win will be up to the court, but those discussing the manner seem to believe he will.

Another Double for Shack-Harris

Level 6

Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo

After getting short and then doubling back once, Brandon Shack-Harris has doubled again, and this time in a game of seven-card stud hi-lo against Australian Poker Hall of Fame member Jason Gray.

Gray: ({X-}{X-}) / {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Spades} / ({X-})
Shack-Harris: ({X-}{X-}) / {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} / ({X-})

Picking up the action on fifth street, Shack-Harris bet, and Gray called. The same action occurred on sixth street, and then Shack-Harris bet all in for his last 50 in chips before seventh street was dealt. Gray called.

Shack-Harris turned up the {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} to make a wheel, which was good for both the high and the low against Gray's {A-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}.

Luke Brabin recently won his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet by taking down the first event here at the 2014 WSOP Asia-Pacific, but on this hand he couldn't come from behind against another bracelet winner in 13-time champion Phil Hellmuth.

Hellmuth was on the button and Brabin in the small blind before the two got into a raising war preflop that saw Brabin get all in for 900 in chips. He had the {3-Hearts}{3-Spades} against Hellmuth's {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, and Brabin was eliminated.

Shack-Harris Doubles Through Guzzardi

Level 5

2-7 Triple Draw

From the button, current World Series of Poker Player of the Year leader Brandon Shack-Harris raised. Michael Guzzardi was in the small blind and reraised. After the big blind folded, Shack-Harris and Guzzardi raised back and forth to get Shack-Harris all in for 825.

After Shack-Harris was all in and there was no more betting, the drawing rounds began. Shack-Harris drew one card on each street, and Guzzardi took two, then one, and then stood pat.

Shack-Harris made an eight-seven with the {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, and that beat Guzzardi's jack low to win the pot and double him up.
