Dirk Gerritse opened from the hijack before Ben Tollerene potted to 1,000,000 from the cutoff. In the big blind, Josh Arieh jammed for 1,035,000. Gerritse folded while Tollerene called.
Josh Arieh: K♠K♣10♦7♠
Ben Tollerene: A♦9♠8♦4♥
The J♠8♣7♥ flop gave pairs to both players and Tollerene picked up a gutshot. The 7♦ turn improved Arieh to trip sevens and left Tollerene's gutter no good (a ten would give Arieh a full house) and he was left drawing to two outs - the remaining eights.
The 8♥ landed on the river to give Tollerene trip eights and the winner as Arieh hit the rail three from the money.
Lautaro Guerra raised to 275,000 under the gun and Pascal Lefrancois three-bet to 1,000,000 in the small blind. Jason Mercier then moved all in for 1,100,000 in the big blind, Guerra folded, while Lefrancois called.
Jason Mercier: K♣K♠J♥8♠
Pascal Lefrancois: A♠A♥8♦5♥
Mercier had run his kings into Lefrancois' aces and the A♣Q♠3♦ flop gave Lefrancois top set. The rest of the board ran out 2♦K♥ and Mercier's set of kings wasn't enough to avoid hitting the rail a few spots short of the money.
Jeremy Ausmus opened to 275,000 under the gun, Veselin Karakitukov called in the cutoff, and Ding Biao called on the button. In the small blind, Sorel Mizzi jammed for 1,110,000 and only Ding called.
Sorel Mizzi: K♣J♦9♣8♣
Biao Ding: A♦9♦7♣2♣
The Q♣5♥3♠ flop improved neither player and no one paired on the 10♥ turn. However, the 9♠ fell on the river to give Mizzi the nut straight to double two from the money.
Life Outside Poker: Boston Rob Shares Story of Costa Rica Poker Raid w/ Daniel Negreanu & Cheryl Hines
Boston Rob Life Outside Poker
Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 21st episode, Connor speaks with Survivor legend Boston Rob, aka Rob Mariano, about growing up near Fenway Park, learning poker at the age of 6, studying psychology at Boston University, applying for Survivor and winning Season 22, his recent appearance on Deal or No Deal Island and filming an upcoming season of The Traitors.
Boston Rob also revealed a story about Costa Rican authorities raiding a mansion known to host high-stakes poker games during a 2006 filming that included Daniel Negreanu, Josh Arieh, David Williams, Michael Mizrachi and actress Cheryl Hines.
"(Gambling mogul) Calvin (Ayre) had a big party at the house, and they came in guns drawn," he said. "And we were fine, but we all had to stay at the party until they checked our passports and everything. I think it was a little bit of a shakedown. But we had a good weekend."
The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise is comprised of 15 bracelet events, and two of those are online events at GGPoker. On Sunday, Dec. 8, the $2,750 buy-in Event #4: GGMasters Online Championship featured a $2,500,000 guarantee, but with only 813 entrants the field enjoyed a juicy $467,500 overlay.
The two-day tournament ended with Brazil’s Matheus Cardoso Machado as the last player standing to claim a $432,623 first-place prize and his first WSOP online gold bracelet.
