Martin Kabrhel Steals the Show on Day 2a of the $25,000 Super Main Event

Level 21 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

After the first two starting flights of the $25,000 Super Main Event at the World Series of Poker Paradise were completed, 419 players returned for Day 2a at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas. With late registration still open for the first three levels of play, an additional 303 entries joined the field, bringing the total number of entries from the first two flights to 1,550. With two starting flights and Day 2b still to come, players still have multiple opportunities to enter the event.

Of the 722 total entries that took to the felt on Day 2a, only 233 players reached the money, each locking up a minimum payout of $50,000, but only 109 players advancing to Day 3.

When the dust finally settled, it was Martin Kabrhel who stood atop the leaderboard. In true Kabrhel fashion, the day was filled with his trademark table talk, a heated confrontation, and most importantly, plenty of high-level poker, as he emerged as the chip leader of Day 2a heading into the next stage of the tournament.

It's Kabrhel's World and Were All Just Living in It

Martin Kabrhel turned heads on Day 2a of the $25,000 Super Main Event with a mix of strong poker and his trademark table antics. From the start, he was lively, joking, chatting, and keeping the atmosphere charged while steadily building his stack. By the end of the day, he was at the top of the leaderboard.

The highlight of his day came when Mustapha Kanit faced a three-bet from Kabrhel for his tournament life. A heated dispute over time banks erupted, involving multiple floor rulings and finally an intervention from tournament director Andy Tillman. Amid the chaos, Kanit called, shouting “LETS DANCE, MARTIN!” before doubling through Kabrhel.

Despite the drama and Kanit initially getting the better of Kabrhel, he kept his composure and later got the last laugh—eliminating Kanit with aces. This hand not only settled the score but also sparked his run to the top of the chip counts, proving that even with theatrics and tension, his poker remained razor sharp.

Some other notable players who bagged up for Day 2 include Alex Foxen (10,425,000), Adrian Mateos (8,225,000), Joe Cada (7,550,000), Chris Moneymaker (5,550,000), and the defending champion from the 2024 WSOPP Super Main Event Yinan Zhou (11,500,000).

Cooler on the Stone Bubble

After over 120 players max late-registered, the bubble still approached quickly with players busting left and right. Notably, Daniel Negreanu, who fired his eighth bullet of the Super Main Event already, still managed to fall short of the money, and will have to try again during the remaining flights. Rising pro Nick Palma also saw his tournament hopes crushed when he shoved ace-king off suit against another ace-king off suit, only for his opponent to complete flush and bust him.

Other notable names to miss the cash included Shaun Deeb, Benny Glaser, Michael Moncek, Espen Jørstad, and Jesse Lonis.

The 233 players who made the money did after a brutal blind-on-blind cooler on the stone bubble. Manuel Pochat, sitting with a healthy stack, ran hisace-king into pocket kings and found no help on the board, making him the unfortunate bubble boy and allowing the remaining players to earn a min-cash of $50,000.

Some players who made the money on Day 2 but failed to bag for Day 3 include Kristen Foxen, Patrik Antonius, Juan Pardo, and Stephen Chidwick.

Most prominently, reigning WSOP Main Event Champion and recently inducted Hall of Famer Michael Mizrachi looked poised to find a bag for Day 3, until his opponent hit a two outer late in the night, ending his run just before Day 2a came to a close.

Action continues tomorrow as Day 1c kicks off at 12:00 p.m. local time, followed by Day 1d on Sunday. Day 2b will take place on Monday, with both Day 2 fields combining for Day 3 on Tuesday. Once Day 3 concludes, the field will be set for the high-stakes action leading to the final table, where the champion of the $25,000 Super Main Event will emerge.

Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

Martin Kabrhel raised from under the gun to 100,000, and Mustapha Kanit defended the big blind.

The flop came 10x5x4x and Kanit check-called a bet of 100,000 from Kabrhel.

After the 4x on the turn, Kanit decided to check-raise Kabrhel's bet of 400,000, to 1,100,000. Kabrhel called.

The river was the 8x and Kanit moved all in for 1,600,000, which Kabrhel called. Kanit tabled Kx10x for top pair, but was crushed by the AxAx of Kabhrel, sending the pot his way, and eliminating Kanit.

The small blind Manuel Pochat was all in for roughly 2,500,000, and the big blind Vladas Tamasauskas putting him at risk, on the stone bubble.

It was a massive cooler blind on blind, and Pochat would need to find an ace to avoid being the bubble boy. But he couldn't find any help on the 75253 runout, giving the pot Tamasauskas, eliminating, Pochat, and bursting the bubble.

At a nearby table Kristen Foxen was all in and at risk as well, but her pocket aces held for the double up.

"LETS DANCE MARTIN!"

Level 17 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Mustapha Kanit
Mustapha Kanit

Mustapha Kanit, in the small blind, was facing a three-bet for his tournament life from the big blind, Martin Kabrhel. Kanit went deep into the tank.

After using a time bank, more time continued to run off, at which point Kabrhel claimed that Kanit owed an additional time bank. The action clock was paused, the floor was called, and tensions quickly escalated. Kabrhel and the floor were discussing the situation in another language, which prompted another player at the table—clearly fed up with Kabrhel’s antics—to shout, “They’re speaking the same language, what the f**k is going on?!”

A second floor person arrived in an attempt to de-escalate the situation, but things only became more heated. Kabrhel remained adamant that Kanit still owed another time bank.

Eventually, a third floor person—tournament director Andy Tillman—came over and sternly warned all parties that penalties would be issued if the situation continued. After confirming with the dealer that only one time bank had been used, Tillman ordered the action clock to be resumed.

At that point, Kanit declared, “LET’S DANCE, MARTIN!” and made the call for his tournament life.

Mustapha Kanit: K10 All in
Martin Kabrhel: K4

After all the drama, Kanit had Kabrhel dominated. Upon seeing Kabrhel’s hand, Kanit repeatedly said, “Let’s dance, Martin. Let’s f**king dance, Martin.”

The flop came KA3, prompting Kanit to say, “Time to dance, Martin.”
After the 6 fell on the turn, Kanit added, “Let’s dance together, Martin.”

The river was the 7, giving Kanit the double-up. Kanit then yelled directly at Kabrhel, “I’M DANCING, MARTIN! YOU SEE HOW I DANCE?! HOW MANY TIME BANKS?!”

Andy Tillman once again warned all players, and the table moved on to the next hand—though not before Kabrhel muttered, “He owes one more time bank.”

Negreanu Sent for Bullet #9

Level 17 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

It's taken Daniel Negreanu eight bullets to reach this stage of the WSOP Super Main Event, but the GGPoker Ambassador will have to start from the beginning once again in Day 1c after busting before the money in Day 2a.

Ramin Hajiyev made it 175,000 from the cutoff before Negreanu put in his short stack from the button. It folded back to Hajiyev, and he snap called.

Negreanu groaned as soon as Hajiyev tabled his hand.

"Finally picked up a pair, need to get lucky again," he bemoaned into his phone camera. "How do you have tens? You raise every cutoff, 99% of cutoffs and you have tens."

Daniel Negreanu: 88All in
Ramin Hajiyev: 1010

Negreanu missed the A77Q9 runout and was eliminated.

"GG, that was one of the more tilting experiences I've ever had. Good luck to you," Negreanu said to Hajiyev, giving him a few pats on the shoulder.

Negreanu's poker playing isn't over for the day however, as he said he's going to hop into the 8-game.

Action was picked up with Nicholas Palma all in for 1,800,000 and Eric Yanovsky putting him at risk.
