Mateos Avoids Disaster

Level 23 : Blinds 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Pedro Padilha limped in from the small blind with 74, and Adrian Mateos checked his option with J2 in the big blind.

Both players got a piece of the 542 flop, but both elected to check to the 2 on the turn, which gave Mateos trips. Padilha check-called a bet of 300,000 from Mateos.

The river was the 4 giving both players a full house, but Padilha the bigger one. Padilha checked to Mateos again, who fired out a hefty bet of 1,500,000. Padilha then raised to 5,500,000. Mateos gave it some thought, before opting to fold his full house, and give the pot to Padilha, avoiding disaster.

Kelvin Kerber Eliminated in 11th Place ($415,000)

Level 23 : Blinds 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante
Kelvin Kerber
Kelvin Kerber

Kelvin Kerber put in his last 575,500 from the button. Eelis Parssinen three-bet jammed for 3,800,000 from the small blind and Klemens Roiter snap-called for his last 1,775,000 from the big blind to set up a three-way all-in.

Kelvin Kerber: K9All in
Klemens Roiter: AKAll in
Eelis Parssinen: Q10

Roiter had Kerber dominated and was ahead of Parssinen, but the latter had plenty of equity with his suited Broadway holding.

Roiter found an ace on the A76 flop to stay ahead, while Parssinen had a flush draw. Kerber had little hope, needing to go runner-runner.

The 8 turn gave Kerber a slim chance of survival, but Roiter claimed the 4,300,000 pot after the 6 river gave him aces-up and the checkmark.

Wang Flops a Set to Double

Level 23 : Blinds 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Yang Wang open-jammed from the cutoff for his stack of 1,700,000, and was called by Aleksejs Ponakovs on the button to put him at risk.

Yang Wang: 99 All in
Aleksejs Ponakovs: AQ

It was a flip for Wang's tournament life, but the 94Q flop put Yang in a commanding spot by flopping a set of nines. Ponakovs was drawing dead after the 6 on the turn, and the 7 on the river secured the double-up for Wang.
