John Juanda was all-in preflop for his last 10,000 against David Tavernier with

sent Tavernier jumping from his chair to knock out the former WSOPE champion.
Giuseppe Zarbo has hovered around the starting stack of 30k all day, but his stack has grown in size as the 100 and 500 stacks have outgrown their earlier perch on top of his strange mascot. For the mascot is a block of clear perspex, with what looks like a small plume of smoke trapped in it, and for most of today Zarbo's chip stack has been balanced on it. He's just added a few thousand to his stack with a threebet preflop called by Per Mattsson, whose stack is much more buffered but isn't intimidating Zarbo. He gave up quickly on the
flop and another brick is added to the wall.
Edit 10 mins later: Zarbo just busted a short stack with less than 10k holding
in the big blind. Two pair on the flop and it was all over from there.
The board was reading
where it got checked around in a three-way pot between Jesper Petersen, Patrick Bueno and Theo Jorgensen.
The river was the
and Jorgensen checked once more, Petersen fired out 7,000 before Bueno went in the tank and passed. Jorgensen made the call and Petersen quickly mucked.
Jorgensen flipped first the
but then revealed he also held the
for a turned flush.
"I had a king," said Bueno, "good that I did not bet the turn."
"If you bet the turn, I'd have folded," Jorgensen replied.
"No...I think not," laughed Bueno.
As you can see the chip count tab is currently not quite operational. Since this is a brand new system, we're still working out the kinks. For our WorldPokerTour.com friends, please be advised many of the players listed as "busted" are in fact still in the tournament, as there was a bug that showed players with chips on Day 1A as "busted" on day 1B.
Rest assured we're working feverishly to get this all straightened out. We appreciate your patience, and are confident the inconvenience will be well worth it when the new system is up and running in full.
It's nearing midnight here in Paris and we are back in action. The players have two more levels to play before Day 1b is in the books.

Blinds: 150/300

The French are well known for enjoying their food which is why we're now on a 90 minute dinner break. We'll be restarting at about 11.20pm local time.
Having lost around 5k in a hand with
vs.
on a
board a short while previously, Alan Goehring just doubled back to pretty much exactly the 30k starting stack with
. I am guessing this went in on the
flop, but even with the turn and river coming
he still won the hand and picked up 15,025 x 2.
Elsewhere a few new big stacks have been spotted climbing skyward:
Fares Bdiri - 60,000
Per Mattsson - 76,000
Ilan Boujenah - 104,000
Elsewhere tables are losing the occasional dinner-break sprinter and in less than a minute there will be a 90 minute food hiatus.
Kimmo Kurko is chastising himself a little, he just paid off an 8,200 bet on the river of a
board against Ilan Rouah but couldn't beat the latter when he was shown a very impressive
