Dubois With the Bluff

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The board was already at the turn and reading {5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{j-Diamonds}. Jean Dubois bet 16,500 and Darryll Fish raised to 38,500. With action back on Dubois, he three-bet to 96,500 and Fish gave up his card.

Dubois turned over {q-Clubs}{7-Spades} for a pure bluff.

Two Pairs for Gualtieri!

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Cate Hall was in the cutoff seat and raised to 12,000. Joe Gualtieri was on the button an pushed all in for his last 40,000. Not wanting to miss the big pot, David Quang called from the small blind, and then Freddy Deeb went in the tank.

Eventually, Deeb slid his cards forward. "I can't believe I'm laying this down."

Hall made the call and they went three-handed to the flop with one player already all in.

The dealer slid out {q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Quang and Hall checked. The turn was the {q-Spades} and they checked again. The river came {j-Clubs} and they checked to showdown.

Hall showed {6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for two pairs. Quang revealed {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} for two pairs. Then Gualtiari turned over {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}.

"Two pairs!" he said as the dealer showed the table the quad queens. He pulled in the triple-up and stacked it up.

Dinner Time!

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

There are 101 players remaining as they head to their 45-minute dinner break. Just 20 more eliminations and they will be in the money!

The Doctor is In the House

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

A player at the table was complaining of a sore throat. Lucky for him, Jeffrey Mulder was seated across from him — a GP.

Mulder got out his smartphone and turned on the flash to look down the player's throat.

"Yeah, you have strep throat."

"What? Really?" the poker-player-turned-patient said.

"Yeah. One hundred percent. Strep throat." Mulder went back to his seat.

The players near the person with strep throat all moved their chairs further away.

"I don't think it's contagious," another player said.

"Yes it is," Mulder said. "Absolutely it is. I'm a real doctor." He gave him some instructions about what he should do about it and how long it would take to clear up. Meanwhile, the other players at the table will likely be making good use of the hand sanitizer when they go on break before they eat their dinner.

"Nice play," a player said to Mulder, looking around at all the suddenly uncomfortable and nervous players not wanting to get infected.

"It's not an angle. I swear."

Check out this interview Caitlyn Howe did with Mulder at a previous WPT event at Playground Poker Club.

Delaney Has Queens Again

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

A player raised to 9,000 and Kevin MacDonald called before Trevor Delaney raised to 26,500. The initial raiser folded but MacDonald decided to push all in, getting a quick call from Delaney with his much larger stack.

MacDonald: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Delaney: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

"Queens again?" a player asked.

The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Delaney picked up another big pot.

"Look at all those chips," a tablemate said.
