Elias Doubles Up

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Just as we walked up to the table, Darren Elias was having his stack counted up so he could receive a double-up. His {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} was still face up in front of him and the board had ran {10-Spades}{q-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}.

Small Pair Catches Up

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Deron Noksana and Simon Lam got it all in preflop with Lam enjoying the lead with {q-}{q-} to his opponent's {4-}{4-}. Despite Lam having the bigger pair, the flop of {2-}{6-}{3-} foreshadowed what was to come for Noksana. The {5-} hit the turn, giving Noksana a straight, and Lam was drawing dead to the {8-} river.

Jaffe Five-Bets Preflop

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

The player in the hijack seat raised to 4,000, getting a call from the player on the button before Jonathan Jaffe three-bet to 13,500.

With action back on the original raiser, he counted out a raise, sliding out 20,000, but the dealer pointed out that the minimum raise would need to be 23,000, so he added to the chips he had put in the middle.

The player on the button folded and Jaffe took a few moments before he counted out a five-bet. He pushed forward 37,000. His opponent took only a few seconds to throw his cards in the muck.

Big Bets from Altman

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Harley Stoffmaker was the first in the hand when he raised to 2,500 from middle position and Ricardo Alvarado reraised from the hijack seat to 7,000. Brian Altman flatted from the cutoff position and Stoffmaker folded when action came back around to him.

The dealer flipped over {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Alvarado checked. Altman bet 11,500 and Alvarado called.

The turn was the {q-Spades} and Alvarado checked. Altman continued with a bet of 19,000 and Alvarado gave up his cards.

Chartier and Taylor Create a Big Pot

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Thomas Taylor was on the button and Sam Chartier was in the big blind. We arrived at the table in the middle of the preflop raising war with a raise to 15,100 in front of Chartier. Taylor thought for a while before raising it to 25,200. Chartier flat-called.

The dealer swiped {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} on the table and Chartier checked. Taylor bet 10,200, leaving him very little behind, and Chartier pushed all in. Taylor instantly threw in a chip to call.

Chartier: {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Taylor: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Taylor needed to catch an ace to catch up, but the turn and river came {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Chartier picked up the big pot. Taylor was left with only a couple of big blinds.
