Marcel Vonk Eliminated

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Marcel Vonk, easily the second most famous Dutch poker player named Marcel, was eliminated just before the break. Those following the MyStack tab in the live reporting already knew that of course.

Vonk got eliminated in a hand where he raised holding {A-}{A-}, where he picked up no less than 5 callers.

The flop came {2-}{3-}{J-} with two hearts, and a player from Denmark bet out. Raoul Refos tanked for some time before calling, Vonk did the same and the other players folded.

The Dane made another bet on the {4-Clubs} turn and again Refos tanked, and called. Vonk over called.

The river was a blank and the Dane pushed all in for the size of the pot. Refos folded, but Vonk made the call.

His opponent indeed had the missed flush draw Vonk put him on, but he was holding {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a turned straight and beat Vonk. The Dutch bracelet winner plans on giving it another shot tomorrow on Day 1b.

Tjauw Foe Back in Action Thanks to Queen-High

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Tobias Peters opened the hand with a raise and three players called, one of them being Clyde Tjauw Foe.

The flop came {2-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{K-Spades} and initial raiser Peters bet out 1,500. A player in middle position called, and Tjauw Foe raised it up to 3,500. Another player and Peters folded, the third player made the call.

That player, who already battled with Tjauw Foe in the High Roller, check called another bet of 6,000 on the {7-Clubs} turn.

The river came the {A-Spades} and Tjauw Foe's opponent checked. Tjauw Foe checked behind and was shown {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a missed flush draw. Tjauw Foe showed {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and took it down with his queen-high.

Re-Entry!

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

We spotted Noah Boeken walking to the cage, ready to buy back in again. Boeken told us he called someone down with {K-}{Q-} on a board of {K-}{J-}{7-}{7-}{3-}. Unfortunately for the Master Classics of Poker and EPT winner, his opponent had {J-}{7-} for a full house.

Ride beside Boeken were Michael Mizrachi, Jorn Walthaus and Joep van den Bijgaart. The first two busted earlier today and just re entered, Van den Bijgaart is giving it his first try.

Abernathy Does it With Seven-Deuce

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante
Samantha Abernathy
Samantha Abernathy

"She's been crushing all of us," Floris van der Ven told us with a wry smile, while looking over at Samantha Abernathy, as his stack totals just 13,000.

Abernathy, sunken away in deep though while listening to some music, pulled out one of her earbuds and tilted her head up in a enquiring motion.

"He said that you're crushing us," Thomas Brader laughed, answering Abernathy's silent question.

"With seven-deuce," Abernathy added with a smile, and Van der Ven explained to us what happened.

Van der Ven went on to say that he raised holding ace-queen from the cutoff, and both the button and big blind, Abernathy, called. The flop came down {J-}{2-}{9-} and all three players checked.

On the turn another {9-} hit and Abernathy lead out for 1,200, and only Van der Ven called. The river was a blank and both players checked, after which Abernathy raked in the pot showing {7-}{2-}.

"It's not a big pot, but still," Van der Ven added, as he's facing an uphill battle with a small stack. Abernathy meanwhile is the chip leader of the tournament.

Show One, Show None

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante
Johan Verhagen
Johan Verhagen

We just caught the action in a big pot, which started with a raise from Johan Verhagen to 900 under the gun. The player on his left called and David Boyacyian three-bet to 3,100. The player in the big blind four-bet to 8,300 and both Verhagen and Boyaciyan made the call.

The flop brought out {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and the big blind bet 9,500 after which Verhagen raised it up to 20,000. Boyaciyan folded and the big blind tanked for several minutes before folding.

Before tossing his cards into the muck Verhagen looked at them, lifting them up high enough so that the player on his right could easily see them. The player, the man who just folded, eagerly peeked at the cards, before Verhagen tossed them into the muck with a smile.

"Show one, show all," Boyaciyan said.

"I didn't show. I can't help it that he looked at my cards," Verhagen laughed.

"Hahahaha, what a trick," the other player said, as he clearly wasn't that affected by the loss of his chips.

Verhagen ended up not showing his cards, and he now sits on 75,000 chips.

Van der Ven Loses Lots

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Floris van der Ven opened to 800 under the gun and the player two to his left made the call. A player right behind him squeezed to 3,000 and action folded back to Van der Ven. The Dutch cash game player shoved all in and the first player folded, the player who had squeezed instantly called.

Floris van der Ven: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Opponent: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Van der Ven was left behind with just 2,900 in chips.

Check-Call Two Streets

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Samantha Abernathy opened the cutoff to 800 and Erik van den Berg in the big blind made the call. Van den Berg check-called 1,150 on {5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, and check-called another 2,275 on the {10-Spades} turn. Van den Berg checked a third time on the {7-Hearts} river, and Abernathy checked behind. Van den Berg tabled {Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, making Abernathy muck.
