Van der Ven Chips Up

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

David Boyaciyan limped for 300 and Floris van der Ven limped as well, after which Pim van Riet called. A fourth player got involved and raised to 2,600 and the player to his left called. The action folded back to Van der Ven who four-bet to 6,100 and the three-bettor called.

The flop brought out {K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Van der Ven picked up the pot with a bet of 6,500.

Ste Catches Lucky Eight

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Wladimir Ste and Stieven Razab-Sekh got their chips in the middle before the flop. Razab-Sekh had Ste easily covered but was short himself. Ste had just about 5,000 and was in trouble holding {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}, Razab-Sekh tabled {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

The flop came {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, not doing much for anyone. After the {10-Diamonds} hit the turn, Ste was down to just two outs. The dealer slowly burned the top card and rolled over... the {8-Diamonds} on the river! Razab-Sekh didn't show any emotion and just handed over the chips, Ste couldn't suppress a small smile.

Tjauw Foe Gets Coolered

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

We missed all the action and just got the show down part of the hand. Tjauw Foe and his opponent got their chips in on a board of {Q-Spades}{K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Upon seeing both players putting their stacks at risk, one player at the table wondered out loud if maybe both players had {A-}{J-} for the nuts. It turned out neither of 'em had that.

Tjauw Foe was the owner of {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, and he was up against {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}. Tjauw Foe was in need of a king, but none would show up. The dealer showed the river painfully slow, but the result was the same in the end: Tjauw Foe hit the rail as the {2-Diamonds} couldn't safe him.

Ten Cate Turns Two Pair

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Wouter van der Peijl raised to 725 under the gun and he picked up three callers; Jonas ten Cate in middle position, Pascal Vos in the cutoff and the player on the button.

The flop came {6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and both Van der Peijl and Ten Cate checked. Vos opted to bet 1,600 and the button and Van der Peijl folded, Ten Cate made the call.

The {4-Clubs} fell on the turn and Ten Cate bet out 2,800. Vos thought about it for a bit before calling.

The same action was seen on the river {7-Clubs}. Ten Cate bet out 4,200 and after some tanking, Vos made the call. Ten Cate showed {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for a turned two pair and Vos mucked.

Carlsson Spotted

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Back in 2010 Jakob Carlsson notched up the biggest tournament result of his career when he finished runner up in the EPT San Remo Main Event. Carlsson took home €750,000 for his effort, but it was Liv Boeree who etched her name into poker history by taking this event down.

Just now we spotted Carlsson in this event, and he's seated at a table with Paul Newey.
