Nuts or Nothing

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

A Russian player raised to 1,300 and got called before Ara Melkistian three-bet to 4,300 and received two calls. On the {Q-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} flop, Melkistian made a continuation bet of 6,700 and was called by the Russian only to fire another 13,500 on the {9-Spades} turn. His opponent didn't go anywhere, prompting Melkistian to shove the {3-Spades} river for effectively 22,800.

That's the amount the Russian had left and the latter thought out loudly that Melkistian either had the nuts or nothing. It was a bad call, as Melkistian turned over {Q-Spades} {Q-Spades} for top set and scooped the pot versus {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}.

Bittar and Rheem Gone

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Chino Rheem rushed out of the tournament area and is expected to be back shortly on the second bullet for the day. Hassan Bittar already had that one but lost with {K-} {Q-} against the {A-} {J-} of Andreas Christoforou.

Another Think Break for Tanindi

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Whenever we walk past the table of Miltiadis Kyriakides, the Greek has more chips in front of him ... and Fuat Tanindi faces a tough spot. This time the LEI Main Event finalist ended up calling a bet of 7,200 in a pot of 18,000 on the river of a {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}. His table neighbor flipped over {Q-Spades} {J-Hearts} for trips queens and Tanindi mucked, leaving the table again to get some fresh air.

Rheem on Tilt

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante
Chino Rheem
Chino Rheem

Chino Rheem had lost a huge pot against Khalil Tawil previously and fell all the way down to 7,125 chips, which he moved all in via three-bet shove. Paul-Francois Tedeschi had opened and called with {K-} {Q-} to see Rheem turn over {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs}. The American got there on a board of {6-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}.

The next hand, Alper Kostem raised to 1,500 and folded to the all in of Rheem for more than 15,000. Tilt or the attempt to bust and rebuy immediately for a fresh stack?

Going Downhill Again

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

In a three-way hand to the {A-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {8-Spades} {5-Spades} turn, Jack Torbay and Hassan Bittar called a bet of 2,700 by a third player and saw the {Q-Diamonds} appear on the river. The opponent fired again for 4,500 and that was enough for both. Will Bittar be able to turn the tide?

Hikmet up to New Heights

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Mustafa Biz raised and was called by Ates Hikmet from one seat over to see a heads-up flop of {10-} {8-} {2-}. Hikmet called the continuation bet of his countryman and Biz then check-called a bet of 7,000 after the {9-Diamonds} turn. An ace appeared on the river and Biz paid off a 15,000-bet with pocket jacks only to see Hikmet turn over {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} for two pair.

What's Your Stack?

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

It has been somewhat difficult to guess the stack of Miltiadis Kyriakides, as he built a little minefield around his seat. The Greek was however so kind to stack the chips nicely for a minute before shuffling them again and give us a correct count: 131,000.

Correction on Gukov

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Aleksandr Gukov is still in, though we believed that the Russian was out as his previous seat was occupied by another player. Gukov has been moved to another table and currently sits slightly above average.

In fact, it has been rather quiet in the last hour with barely any spectacular showdowns.
