With 44 players remaining in the partypoker World Poker Tour Vienna Main Event, the money is in sight.

Just 17 players will have to fall before the cheques are getting handed out, 17 unfortunate souls leave empty handed. The other 27 players will be guaranteed €5,480 at that point, while the winner will take home €150,000 and a ticket for the WPT World Championship worth another €15,400 on Tuesday.

The plan for the day is to play five 90-minute levels, or till the tournament is down to 16 players. Polish prodigy Dzmitry Urbanovich leads with 495,600 in chips, Fedor Holz with 416,600 in chips is second on the leader board.

There's work to be done for the likes of Michael Huber (34,600), Artur Koren (37,000) and Austria's third all time money earner Erich Kollmann (38,500). The levels are structured as followed today:

Early Observations

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
  • Jens Lakemeier is already squeezing lemon juice over his two giant schnitzels. In the country of schnitzels, the breaded meat can be eaten at any time, even breakfast and lunch.
  • "Ohhh! It's the new style!" laughed Sotirios Koutoupas after he unsuccessfully isolated Jitka Seidler's limp. She limp reraised all in and Koutoupas folded after having raised to 7,000 from the button.
  • Artur Koren is seated right next to Fedor Holz and the contrast couldn't be bigger. Koren is one of the shortest stacks in the house, Holz one of the biggest. The tournament director asked if Koren could clearly separate his stack from Holz who was still stacking, and Koren got slightly irritated by the request.

Luca Loses Lots, Boyaciyan Bills Big

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
David Boyaciyan
David Boyaciyan

David Boyaciyan opened under the gun for 4,800 and received calls from Ivan Luca (cutoff), Ivan Stefanovic (button) and Nikolaus Teichert (big blind).

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Teichert checked to Boyaciyan. The initial raiser made a 12,700 continuation bet and just Luca made the call, Stefanovic and Teichert both folded.

Boyaciyan didn't back down on the {Q-Hearts} turn and fired 18,800 in the pot. Luca wasn't ready to say goodbye to his hand either and made the call.

The river came the {9-Spades} and Boyaciyan checked. Luca played with his chips a little, cut some chips aside, and slid two big towers forward, totaling 52,500. Boyaciyan asked how much it was, and called.

Luca confidently showed {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, but Boyaciyan tabled the {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for the flopped straight and won the sizable pot.

Holz Ain't Here to Fold

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

On a flop of {10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} it was Arberd Lalicic betting 7,000, Fedor Holz made the call in position.

The {6-Diamonds} fell on the turn and Lalicic now bet 11,500. Holz again was the one calling.

The {K-Diamonds} fell on the river and Lalicic now checked. Holz bet 35,000 and Lalicic made the call after some thinking.

Holz showed up with {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}, Lalicic mucked.

Holz Doubles Bartalos

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Josef Bartalos opened to 4,800 from middle position and Robert Schulz made the call in the cutoff.

Action folded to Fedor Holz who, surprise surprise, three bet. The German big stack made it 16,900 and action was back on Bartalos. Bartalos thought for just a bit before shoving all in for 56,200. Schulz quickly folded, Holz called instantly.

Fedor Holz: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Josef Bartalos: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

The flop came {3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{10-Hearts} giving Holz some back door outs. He picked up four outs with the {J-Diamonds} on the turn, but the {2-Spades} on the river wasn't one of them and Bartalos doubled.

War Before the Flop

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Jens Lakemeier opened to 5,200 from middle position and action folded to Michel Abecassis in the cutoff.

The French pro three bet to 13,200 and both the button and blinds folded.

Action back on Lakemeier who four bet to 27,500.

That sure wasn't the end of it, as Abecassis five bet to 45,400.

Well, you guessed it, Jens wasn't folding. The German pro six bet to 80,000 and Abecassis thought for a bit before quietly folding. Lakemeier showed the {A-Diamonds} and gathered the chips in the pot.
