The player under the gun raised to 750 and the player on the button and the player in the small blind both called. Big blind Pierre Neuville squeezed to 3,000 and after giving it some thoughts, both the initial raiser and button folded.
Some players thought the hand was over, but like a bolt from the blue it was the small blind pushing all in for an undisclosed amount. Neuville wasn't shying away and called just about instantly.
"Oh my god, I'm in trouble" said the small blind, "You have a pair?"
Neuville showed his , which relieved his opponent; "Oh! I can beat that!", and he showed .
The flop came and the small blind still seemed convinced he had a fair chance. He needed a queen but it wouldn't come; on the turn and on the river.
Jer El Salsero, who nicknamed himself the salsa dancing poker player, has just doubled up. He was the one to open the action and did so raising to 1,000 from early position. His neighbor called and so did Toine Roecoert on the button.
The flop came and El Salsero open jammed for 6,700. His neighbor folded right away, Roecoert made the call.
Toine Roecoert:
Jer el Salsero:
The on the turn gave Roecoert some additional outs, but the on the river was a blank and El Salsero doubled up.
Dutchman Dennis Lavrijsen made it 650 to go from the hijack and got called in two spots; Michiel Jonker on the button and the player in the big blind.
All three of them checked on and the hit the turn. The big blind bet out 1,100 and Lavrijsen called after checking his cards one more time. Jonker folded.
The river came the and the big blind sighed before betting 4,000. Lavrijsen thought about it for just half a minute or so, before releasing his cards into the muck.
The players are returning from their dinner break and are about to play the same level we had on just now (150/300 ante 25). The rest of the players will go have something to eat and return in 60 minutes.
Belgian multiple bracelet winner Kitai is down to just 7,000. He lost a couple of small pots in a row, and just was seen folding to a shove on to drop down even more. Getting short now!
We just now noticed current Global Poker Index leader Steve O'Dwyer playing, and the first hand we saw him in cost him dear. A player in middle position opened and both O'Dwyer (hijack) and the cutoff made the call before the small blind squeezed to 3,100. The big blind and initial raiser both folded, O'Dwyer and the cutoff called.
The flop came and the small blind bet out 5,000. O'Dwyer called again, the cutoff folded. The fell on the turn and the small blind shoved all in. O'Dwyer frowned and folded.
We witnessed just the tail end of a hand which would eventually result in Chino Rheem's departure. He got it in on a flop of holding . His opponent had and the on the turn and on the river.
Rheem was already out the door when the table started talking about the hand for a bit. Some frowned, one player was overheard saying "What did he even do with his stack in that hand?"
David Boyaciyan opened under the gun for 600 and he received no less than four calls. All five of them checked on and the hit the turn. Both the big blind, Boyaciyan and the hijack all checked, but cutoff Fatih Aydin bet 1,575. On the button Menno Mensonides shoved all in (for about 7,000 according to Aydin, he told us after the hand) and action folded to Aydin. Aydin called immediately and Mensonides got the bad news right away.
Menno Mensonides:
Fatih Aydin:
The river was a blank and Mensonides made his exit from the tournament. Aydin, who busted the high roller in third earlier today, is up to 45,000.
