After an exhilarating seven hours of play, the final table in the WPT World Online Championships Main Event is confirmed.

Leading the way is Romanian Vlad Darie who is looking to win his second WPT title after triumphing in the 2016 WPT Vienna Main Event. For that victory, he took home $174,735 but should he go on to win this title he'll be earning himself almost a million dollars.

Close behind Darie is American David Peters, who doubled through Fabian Quoss twice in quick succession to haul himself off the bottom of the chip counts and into second place, whilst also eliminating Quoss on the final table bubble.

partypoker Ambassador Joao Simao brings up the rear, and will be looking for an early double-up when play resumes on Tuesday, September 14 at 19:05 BST. The final tablewill be live streamed on the partypoker Twitch channel and you can also catch all the action right here on PokerNews.

Day 2 Recap

From the four starting flights a total of 178 players returned for Day 2. Among them were four partypoker pros, the first of which to go was Matthew Staples who despite his early elimination still managed to turn a $500 satellite into a $11,217 payday.

Joao Simao had moved up the chip counts, and set the pace early as the eliminations began to mount. Adrian Mateos, Mustapha Kanit, Mike Watson, Mark Radoja, Niklas Astedt and Joao Vieira were all sent to the rail, all in the money but left dreaming of what might have been.

The chip lead was taken over by Iaroslav Bogaev who stormed up the leaderboards to sit with over 13 million chips. However, as the saying goes, a candle that burns twice as bright, burns half as long and he was gone before the next break.

partypoker Ambassador Jeff Gross was unfortunate to be eliminated when his pocket kings were cracked by Steven van Zadelhoff, while Mikita Badziakouski was the beneficiary of a double elimination to stay in contention.

Suddenly, Vlad Darie stormed into the lead after eliminating two players in quick succession. With two tables remaining, he moved well ahead of the chasing pack and looked content to control proceedings from his lofty perch.

Play remained cautious as the final table approached as Darie extended hisc hip lead to almost 70 million. However, his stack would be trimmed somewhat, while David Peters' burst into life. He doubled twice and eliminated Fabian Quoss to secure a surprise second place in the chip counts ahead of tomorrow's final table.

David Peters raised from under the gun and Fabian Quoss defended his big blind.

The flop was {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and Quoss checked. Peters shoved and Quoss called.

Quoss held {7-}{8-} for top pair but and Peters held {q-}{9-Clubs} for queen high and a flush draw. The turn completed Peters' flush and the river was inconsequential as Quoss was eliminated in tenth place.

Simultaneous Action at Both Tables

Level 18 : 350,000/700,000, 87,500 ante

Fabian Quoss shoved for 24.5 million from under the gun.

Meanwhile, on the other table, Talal Shakerchi raised to 1.68 million and Bruno Volkmann had three-bet to 4.46 million.

Shakerchi shoved and Volkmann quickly folded.

That caused David Peters to move all in for 16 million. He held {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and held against the {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} of Quoss to double for the second time in quick succession.

While the Lehmanski elimination was going on, there was another hand in progress at the other table.

Bruno Volkmann had checked a {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Spades}{6-Clubs} board with 14.1 million in the pot to Vlad Darie who shoved.

Volkmann had 24.5 million behind and was covered, but as he saw the Lehmanski hand play out he eventually folded, extending Darie's chip lead.

Maxi Lehmanski Eliminated in 11th Place ($57,639)

Manuel Fritz shoved for 16.8 million on the button. Maxi Lehmanski shoved for 4 million in the small blind and Joao Simao folded the big blind.

Manuel Fritz: {6-Spades}{5-Spades}
Maxi Lehmanski: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Lehmanski was all in and at risk, but the {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades} was all Fritz, giving him a flush draw.

The turn {8-Hearts} meant that he was also open-ended, with the {4-Diamonds} sealing his straight and sending Lehmanski to the rail in eleventh place.

The remaining ten players are now on the final table bubble.
