Droege Steals One

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Kayhan Tugrul opened preflop to 40,000 from under-the-gun, Alexey Rybin made the call in middle position and Maximilian Droege called in the big blind.

All three checked the {2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop but when Droege bet 65,000 on the {A-Spades} turn, it was enough to scare the other two players off the pot.

Tugrul Brings Out the Big Guns

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
WPT Cyprus Unofficial Final Table
WPT Cyprus Unofficial Final Table

Sergey Rybachenko opened the betting for 45,000. Kayan Tugrul in the small blind and Pierre Sayegh in the big blind called him. The flop was {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. The blinds checked and Rybachenko continued for 65,000. Tugrul now pulled out the old check raise from his armoury and made it 165,000. Sayegh got out of this hand but Rybachenko wasn’t giving up just yet and made the call. The turn card was the {k-Clubs}. First to act Tugrul moved all in. Rybachenko got out of the way.

Patience of a Sayegh

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Pierre Sayegh seems determined not to make a critical mistake and is displaying extraordinary patience with his short stack. There have been several opportunities for him to just stick it in and see what happens but so far he has refused to do so. A recent hand illustrated his modus operandi.

Sayegh opened UTG +1 for 40,000, Andrei Nikonov makes it 107,000 from mid position and the blinds folded. Sayegh sat for a while, checked his cards once more, rubbed his eye and folded. He didn’t give off any sense that he was frustrated, just made his decisionand was on to the next hand.

Tugrul Escapes

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Kayhan Tugrul opened preflop to 45,000 before Alexey Rybin made it 115,000 a couple of seats down. Tugrul moved all in and Rybin snap-called.

Tugrul: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Rybin: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{A-Spades} and Tugrul confidently said, "It's coming on the river..." The {2-Diamonds} turn changed nothing but the {3-Clubs} made the straight and the players chopped up the pot.

Kfir Yamin Eliminated in 8th Place ($30,400)

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Kfir Yamin
Kfir Yamin

Kfir Yamin has had more swings than a children's playground today. Sadly, it's all ended for the Israeli.

He moved all in from the button and Sergey Rybachenko made a very quick call in the big blind. Yamin wasn't happy about that and it was understandable to see why.

Yamin: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Rybachenko: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The board came {Q-Spades}{A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts} and like the others, Yamin got a round of applause from the rest of the players as well as some well-deserved handshakes.

Shoving Time for Droege

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

It was folded to Max Droege who completed the small blind. Kayan Tugrul wasn’t having that and raised to 60,000. Well Droege wasn’t having that either and moved all in. Turgal folded.

The next hand Alexey Rybin opened to 45,000, Albert Daher raised to 103,000 and from the button Droege was once again all in. The blinds folded, Rybin folded and Daher hard a long hard look at Droege who was listening to his music and nodding his head. Daher folded.

Picking up blinds and antes; staying in the game.

Alexandr Lakhov Eliminated in 9th Place ($23,125)

Alexandr Lakhov
Alexandr Lakhov

Kayan Tugrul opened from early position to 40,000, Alexey Rybin called and Alexandr Lahkov moved all in from the small blind. The blinds folded and Turgul gave it some thought before calling. With Rybin folding, Lahkov turned over his {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Turgul seemed happy with his call now and showed {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. The board ran out {5-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{9-Spades} and Lahkov was busted.

Clap Your Hands Sayegh

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Sergey Rybachenko opened to 45,000 preflop and Kayhan Tugrul flat-called on the button. Pierre Sayegh reraised all in from the blinds for 268,000 more. Rybachenko folded but Tugrul quickly made the call.

Tugrul: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Sayegh: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The flop was {3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{J-Clubs} which was no help for the Lebanese player but the {10-Clubs} turn gave him both a flush draw and straight draw but also gave Tugrul a set. The {9-Clubs} came on the river and Sayegh doubled back up, much to Tugrul's chagrin.
