Charles Furey Eliminated in 17th Place ($10,405)

Charles Furey - 17th Place
Charles Furey - 17th Place
Charles Furey opened the betting with an under-the-gun raise to 20,000. Action passed all the way around to the button seat, where Tim Kelly quickly announced, "All in." Just as fast came the, "I call," from Furey, who was the at-risk player.

Showdown:
Furey: {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}
Kelly: {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}

Right in the door came the {K-Hearts}, and the board ran out {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}. Furey added a flush draw on the turn but the river failed to help him, and he is our 17th place finisher, earning $10,405 for his work.

In the Money!

With the elimination of our bubble boy, Chau Nguyen, all 18 of the remaining players are now in the money, much to their delight.

The tournament staff was all smiles as well. We have had two quick redraws and a color-up in the last few minutes, and we blasted right into the money without bothering to slow for hand-for-hand play.

Down to two tables now, the players are re-drawing for their new seats.

Chau Nguyen Eliminated in 19th Place

Chau Nguyen - 19th Place
Kyle "kwob20" Bowker raised to 23,000 on the button and Chau Nguyen called out of the small blind. The flop came jack high and Nguyen shoved for 35,000. Bowker called quickly and showed {K-?} {J-?}. Nguyen tabled {A-?} {10-?} and found no help on the turn and river.

Nguyen finishes on the bubble in 19th place.

Sam Bernstein Eliminated in 20th Place

Sam Bernstein - 20th Place
Sam Bernstein - 20th Place
From the cutoff seat, Sam Bernstein moved all in for his remaining 44,000 cihps. Phillip Reed looked him up from the big blind, putting Bernstein at risk of elimination.

Bernstein tabled {6-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} and was racing for his tournament life against the {Q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} of Reed.

The flop troubled Bernstein as it came {8-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {10-Hearts}, allowing Reed to take the lead in the hand. The {3-Spades} and {K-Diamonds} that filled out the board were of no use to either player, and Sam Bernstein is out in 20th Place.

With his elimination, we are officially on the money bubble. Play will commence with hand-for-hand dealing until we lose our bubble boy.

Nikos Alafogiannis Eliminated in 21st Place

Nikos Alafogiannis - 21st Place
Nikos Alafogiannis - 21st Place
Action for this hand folded around to the blinds where Scott Zakheim limped in for the extra half bet. Nikos Alafogiannis was in the big blind, and he moved all in for just about 60,000. Before he could blink, Zakheim insta-called, putting Alafogiannis at risk for his tournament livelihood.

Showdown:
Zakheim: {K-Hearts} {K-Spades}
Alafogiannis: {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}

It was a your classic cooler with both blinds waking up with the top two hands in poker. With Alafogiannis in good shape for a double up, the two men watched the flop come down {2-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {4-Hearts}. The {3-Hearts} that hit the turn was a huge sweat card, giving Zakheim the added benefit of a flush draw.

The flush didn't come. However, the {K-Diamonds} spiked the river like a magical sword of death. Nikos Alafogiannis was visibly frustrated with the outcome as he slowly backed away from the table. With that, the man with the difficult-to-spell name is headed for the exit, just shy of an in-the-money finish.
